1294 to 439 MHz longer distance crossbands

23cm sounds like such a interesting band not where you might find a transceiver. I have my standard license but have not been on air for over 5 years since moving to a townhouse must get back on air soon with a new antenna set up. 6 metre band is also been of interest to me. Good to promote the forgotten band. I have equipment for 1.2 Ghz but no contacts so far.

I think you are correct in using 'fully quieting' when reporting on a received FM signal. 5 and 9 is illogical as S scale reports signal amplitude which is not a useful measure for FM, given that there is no modulation information in the signal's amplitude, and your receiver's IF Limiter is saturating the signal's amplitude. I hear 5 and 9 reports on FM all the time and it never ceases to be mildly irritating. 😮

Thanks Paul. I could give a report based on signal strength but it's hard to see the laptop screen in sunlight. However on my SDR setting I have the 'grass' at around -70dB. Good signals were around -50dB. So I can give dB above noise floor reports which are probably best.
