This following vid is great illustration are informative, thank you martyHuei, for more additional input always consider first the building height classification & area of the building, the following arrangements of exit consider NFPA 101 A. table 7.6 the occupant load you can identify the different distance of the following travel distance & dead-end to be considered. For the room requires single exit should not exceeding 50 occupants, more than 50-500 occupants considered not less than 2 separate exit, and for the doors swing to the direction of egress.

Thank you for your video's I am a new fire inspector and have been given the job of plan review. You have cleared up several questions I have had with plans. One architect here uses a series of triangles to come up with travel distance. Do you have a video on how to use triangulation to figure travel distance?

Marty, in the two door scenario you describe, is it not true that both paths lead you to the same exit stair? I thought the intent of Common path is two separate and distinct paths of egress travel to two separate exits. When you land in the corridor on the same side of the first stair have you meet the second part of the requirement: ..."to two separate exits?"
@MartyHuie7 жыл бұрын
WOW!! you are correct, That dot I placed at 2:45 is not the common path distance. The over all distance to the stair is still the common path. The Common path was shorten with adding the second door but the over all common path is still to the stir. I will replace the video next month with one that is correct. Thank You for catching this. Sorry I did not see this the first time

Marty,In your example with two doors is the CPT distance of < 75' required for both doors assuming an occupant load less than 50? To be clearer I have a suite with an OL
