Very cool. A song I’ve played for awhile. You helped me with some of the finer details. Always a great lesson.

No kidding, nearly 5 decades I thought Keith's "flub" was intentional - kind of like a "slur" as is done on the trombone (I played horns in school). Great video!

I need a project to bring in the New Year, I’ve been looking to learn a Rolling Stones tune for a while. Thanks for lesson one and two of your detailed KZbin posts.

Not sure if you ever saw this version but I just stumbled across it. It says it's an alternate recording with Clapton on the track. Not sure if he's in addition to, or instead of Taylor. But interestingly Taylor's licks seem to get incorporated into Keith's part. That raises some questions about the original. Not suggesting Taylor was not on the original -- but perhaps Keith has written both parts and Taylor was just playing what Keith came up with for him? Or that on this alternate, Keith decided to copy parts of Taylor track? What do you think? kzbin.info/www/bejne/faa5kqttnrKAbLs. Maybe all three of them are playing? But I don't feel like I'm hearing the two guitar tracks of the original...

Fascinating! Never heard that before. Did a little research, it was recorded on Dec 18, which was AFTER the band recorded it at Muscle Shoals on December 4-6. So I am sure they played the demo of their version to Eric and he picked up on that lick. I guess I could believe either that Keith came up w the idea or if Mick Taylor did. Here was what wikipedia says about it '" An alternative version was recorded on 18 December 1970, at Olympic Studios in London, during a birthday party for Richards and Bobby Keys. It features appearances by Al Kooper on piano, and Eric Clapton on slide guitar"
