This looks great! I like that you were able to make fairly simple changes that had a big impact. I might have to come back to this video when I'm looking at how to set up my own backyard. Thank you!

Laura Lou Thank you! I just wanted to go slightly bigger with the pool so when we were all using it we weren’t overcrowded in there. The decking platform just makes it easier for the little ones to get in and out. Also a good level base for this kind if a pool is a must! This is the 3rd pool I’ve had like this. The first one I just had on grass and when the grass grew I ended up cutting a hole in the pool with garden sheers 😢. Now it’s on a tarpaulin we don’t have any issues with growth any more. Good luck with whatever you end up doing!!!👍

Great job mate, Looks like you had it all planned out. Everything looks amazing. Very clean job. My suggestions are build a small deck or table level with the pool top for placing items, towels, drinks, phone. And finish the deck with a stain/water seal. It would match your fence. 👍🏼

Hi there thanks for your video, I just bought exactly the same pool as yours, I’m struggling with which heat should I buy? Can you advise me which one did you buy? Also from where did you buy the filter ? Thanks a lot
@Budgee1974 жыл бұрын
I did actually buy a heater for my pool, the intex 2.2kw heater it was about £100 from eBay. It takes a long time to gain any heat and used a lot of electricity. I wasn’t very happy with it. I’ve actually taken the heater off now and I’m just using a solar cover type heater now, it’s almost as good when the sun is shining and doesn’t use any electric. It also helps keep debris out of your pool when not in use and helps maintain the heat overnight when the temperature drops. I paid £15 for the cover and I’m really pleased with the results. I’m still looking into other methods of heating the pool though as the solar cover only works when the weather is extremely warm. If you find something better then please let me know???😁
@SuzyElzaharOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Biker Budgee haha thank a lot, I bought the solar cover too, I’m hesitant to buy heater, I bought a 3/4mm wetsuit for the kids, they are quite expensive but they stayed in the pool yesterday all day, they didn’t get cold at all. I think I’m going to leave it like that thick good quality wetsuits are great :)
@digmastersi80264 жыл бұрын
Biker Budgee hi solar cover works great on mine if you spend a bit extra I would advise getting the 200 one witch is thicker so will last longer about 35 quid 👍🏻I got a coil and fitted it in a burning vessel and connected it up to the pool with separate pump burn some hardwood in it for few hours and pool gets to about 37 c happy days 👍🏻

Might have missed it but what was the reason for the decking boards under the legs? Does that not put extra stress on the side of the pool? By the way one of my neighbours has a setup like yours next to his shed and he coiled black pipe on the shed roof connected to a submersible pond pump and that does a great job of heating his pool without the expense of a heater.

I was going to do a separate video on the heater and filter but it turns out the heater I got was so expensive to run on the electric and was terrible at heating the pool. I’m looking into another heater but at the moment because the weather is warm I’m getting the same results with a solar cover. It’s cheap, cheap to buy and costs nothing to heat the pool. I’d recommend the solar cover over the electric heater any time. I’ll do some follow up videos soon on the pool but I’ve been so busy with other projects I just haven’t had time. Thanks for your comment!!!!!😁
@Mark-M724 жыл бұрын
@@Budgee197 yup , heating the pool is not cheap, 😬, I find pools normally take 3 days of 24hr heating to reach 28-30 Deg which is pleasant. I got a hot splash heat pump £385 but wouldn't work through the night to initially heat pool, so had to send this back, this heater wont work below 10deg air temp, there are others that work at lower temps but they go up in price very quickly,, around £1500, so I'm back to a 3kw heater, which is about £30-£40 a month to run depending on weather, you can run it for 10hrs per day after you initially heat the pool to save costs.

Enjoyed your video! I’m actually using it to get an estimate on how much a company would charge to level an area of my backyard to put an intex prism 12ft X 17ft above the ground pool! What was the total size in ht and width of your pool? And did the pieces you placed under the pool legs come with the pool or did you create them? What kind of pump came with the pool? And how long in total did it take to fill the pool? I know lots of questions but your answers will help me tremendously! Thanks !
@Budgee1974 жыл бұрын
My pool is 12ft prism. I levelled an area 13ft x 14ft square so I would have enough room to walk completely around the pool for future maintenance. Good luck with your new pool👍 p.s send me a picture when it’s finished, I’d love to see your project?😄
@Budgee1974 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry I didn’t read all of your questions, I’ve only just read it now! Pieces underneath the feet are cut offs of composite decking that a friend had left over from a decking project he was doing. I only used the to help stop the feet sinking in the soft sand underneath the tarpaulin and to help level the pool to perfection. They worked perfectly and will never rot out because they’re made of plastic. The total total time to fill the pool was about 8hours 10 minutes. Hope that helps!

Hi! Great job on the pool! Could you please tell me what type of pump and heater you use?
@Budgee1974 жыл бұрын
I just use the pump that came with the pool, the cartridge type. I was using the intex 2.2kw heater but it was so expensive to run and did a poor job of heating the pool that I got rid of it. I now just use a solar pool cover and it’s just as good as the heater except it’s totally free to use. I’d definitely recommend the solar cover.
@ivysammi4 жыл бұрын
Biker Budgee, thank you! I currently use a solar pool cover but my daughter wishes the water could be a bit warmer.😅
@agontop14 жыл бұрын
Biker Budgee Curious if you used the heater with the solar cover if you think it would have worked. Im thinking you used a lot of energy because the unit was struggling to keep the water warm, however, if you helped the heater out buy using the solar cover to retain a lot of the heat, maybe it wouldn’t have to work as hard,

Would it be wise to put holes in the tarpaulin for water drainage?
@Budgee1974 жыл бұрын
An excellent question!!!!!! I didn’t put any drain holes in mine as I didn’t want to compromise the tarpaulins strength as promote an opportunity for weeds to grow through. I do get a lot of pooling on the floor around the pool but it only takes a few minutes to sweep it off after using it. I’d say it’s personal preference really. Let me know what you ended up doing?😁

Biker Budgee I’ve got the same pool and I put down heavy duty weed stop sheet down seems to do the job and helps drain any pooling 👍🏻 next year I’m going for a deeper one as it’s been a big hit with the family 👍🏻

Is the Prism frame any different from your old pool? There's a significant difference in the price, but I can't see anything different other than the colour change, from blue to grey.
@user-jd2rk8bd2y4 жыл бұрын
nothing different. intex says the only difference is the “modern look” the prism frame has. also prices are high because of corona and everyone wanting a pool and them selling out all over.
@Budgee1974 жыл бұрын
Yes they are pretty much the same! This one is just bigger and a different colour. But believe it or not it was actually cheaper in price. I paid £180 for the blue one and only £95 for the new grey one. I got it at a garden centre as an end of season deal. Bargain of the century, lol!
@geoffphuketInPhuket4 жыл бұрын
@@Budgee197 Thanks for replying. On reflection, I think the new version - being a lighter colour - might help keep the water cooler. Our last pool was a 12 foot Easy Set, which used to get far too hot.... I doubt you'll ever have that problem in the UK. :-) You certainly got a bargain for £95. The cheapest I can find, works out at the equivalent of £168.

Should of just got a hot tub boi !! Heated water and cheap electric bill and can use all year round! With crappy weather in uk there’s not so many really hot days so can’t use pool for very long. Makes me laugh people buy these pools, get all excited, then realise how cold it is, kids and the wife moaning coz it’s too cold and don’t use it, then realise how expensive the heaters are to buy and how much electric they use up, then they end up just selling the pool on Facebook 2 weeks later when the novelty wears off and spent loads of money and realised for the same price they could of just got a hot tub lol
@Budgee1974 жыл бұрын
Fair comment! that is so true. I have got rid of the heater. The amount of electric they use is a joke and they don’t even heat the pool very well. I’ve just got a solar cover now and it’s almost as good but it’s free to use. That is the most honest and true comment I’ve had on this video and hits the nail on the head with these pools but I’m gonna hang on to mine for now! 👍😂

For the same price? When I bought my home 5 years ago, it came with a $9000 hot tub. It was purchased by another home owner in 2012. We were able to use it about 2 seasons. It started leaking. I took off the front cover and saw the exact leak. It was about $135 to have repaired. Afterwards, we filled it again...another 350 gallons and it lost about 6 inches of water in other places that are impossible to get to in about 4 hours. I also spent about a week in cleaning it. Here in the Midwest US if you don't pay to have it winterized, pipes will freeze/thaw and develop cracks. Otherwise, you have to run it all winter long. We are about to pay to have it hauled away....I'm getting an Intex 10 foot pool that I can fix myself and drain/take apart for winter storage.
