This is only my (very cynical) personal hypothesis, but nobody has actually been undecided or independent for a long time now. Voters claim to be undecided or independent at this point for two reasons. 1) They support such an unpopular or disliked candidate that they wont admit to it out loud. 2) They perceive themselves to be projecting the image of a calculated critical thinker ahead of the curve of the rest of us voters whom they perceive to be of a needlessly tribalist mindset.

I wrote in Ron Paul in 2016, voted for Trump in 2020, and voting for Trump this year. I'm pro-constitution, anti-war unless absolutely necessary, love or marry whoever you want, anti-death penalty, and pro life with the basic exceptions. I don't love everything about Trump but in my view he's more pro America, business friendly, and my family did better under him. When I say what I am about to say I am not meaning it condescending or in a way to rile people up, I am genuinely curious. Why do left leaning women make their ENTIRE identity on the ending of a babies life? I have pro choice people in my circle who are voting for Kamala and abortion is #3 tops and mostly #5 on their list of most important things to them. I personally find it very very odd that the Democratic party is so OBSESSED with abortion, to the point where it genuinely creeps me out.
