Fun to see some other pilots heaving this kwad around. When Nurk came out with his video I immediately wanted one. I'm wrapping up a 12s 10" now on a Hildagard 395 frame. Shout out to erodyo for the sick 3d prints to hold the APDs on it.
@dividingbyzerofpv67484 жыл бұрын
What KV motor are you going to try for going to 12s? 400kv range? APD goes the extra mile and lets you download the model of their ESC. Makes for mounting the ESCs a whole new kinda CAD modeling experience. I recently built a 10in on 3115 640kv that I really like flying on 6s. I tried it on 6s 2812 900kv and it was freakish and hard to tune. I am thinking about trying it on 8s with the bigger 640kv motors. Goal would be to be a pair of 4s2p 18650 packs in parallel for 8s2p LithiumIon.
@geesekrew4 жыл бұрын
@@dividingbyzerofpv6748 also trying to use 900kV, but an even larger stator (3114 motor) to dissipate heat from bigger prop. we shall see if i smoke the motors or not
@dividingbyzerofpv67484 жыл бұрын
@@geesekrew I tried 900kv 10in on 6s and was hitting 60+mph with like 50-60% throttle. Was off the ground with like 12-15% throttle and just twitchy as hell. I was unable to tune it to the point that I didnt have hot motors. When I swapped to 640kv 3115 Tornados my tune settled right in. I think with the bigger motors I have room to go up to 8s on 10inch but 12s may be too much without reducing prop size. I dont have a ton of experience tuning tho. May cut another 10in frame and take it to 8s, I have all the parts needed to make the jump. Not ready to hop into 12s ESCs yet. I do have a frame mocked up that would let me run 6s8p 18650 or 12s4p 18650 packs but that would be on 20-24in props on like 130-150kv motors.

DividingByZero FPV what pitch props? I expect a hover around ~20% but maybe I'm off by estimations
@dividingbyzerofpv67484 жыл бұрын
@@geesekrew whatever the HQ 10in triblade is. The 3115 640kv seem to hover around 20-25% tops on 6s but my build is pretty light weight. I tried going with APC 10-12in props on another build but even with balancing I was vibrating like crazy so I only use the 10in HQ prop.

12:30 it's hard to put into words how the momentum feels because gravity accelerates all objects at the same rate- but that's in a vacuum. on the moon, a feather and a hammer dropped together hit the ground at the same time. when drag from the air is slowing you down, a heavier quad absolutely can be tossed higher and will 'flow' better because it has better penetration thru the fluid it's in. In terms of f=ma the drag force of the air on the quad is the same for any quad with the same dimensions, but the mass (m) is higher so the deceleration the air imparts on the quad (a) must necessarily be lower.

I wish we could have 30x30 mounting pattern 8s rated 4:1 escs. Maybe a little fatther than our normal stack ESCs(like fat 20x20 high amps only scaled up to 30x30). A nice 50-60amp rated 8s 4:1 to help with a tighter build. 12s is awesome but my upper limit for ESC pricing is around 40 dollars per ESC be it Iflight or APD. Soldering the Iflights is really tight on the signal pad close to ground pad. And APD is proprietary firmware. While the APD esc is really really smooth there is no Bidirectional BLheli 32 RPM filtering, probably not even needed honestly. Other nice thing about APD is you can download the ESC model so if you have Fusion 360 you can design and 3D print really nice ESC holders to house your expensive APD escs.

Sick quad! There is one issue with the KV though. If you work out the tip speed of the props at full throttle, it is well above the speed of sound. As far as I am aware, propellers encounter a lot of funny aero effects at speeds approaching the speed of sound (0.8 - 0.9 times the speed of sound).

I'd like to know what you do to avoid VR sickness, I've just tried a simulator app with cardboard VR and it gave me nausea!
@TheBlaznbowls4 жыл бұрын
This is something that can only be cured with more time in VR. It's like getting seasick you have to find your sea legs. But the plus thing is that VR sickness in a simulator is worse than the sickness you feel fpv with live video. The way I got over mine was I basically would fly until I started to barely feel the sickness coming along. Take a break for as long as you were in VR. So if VR for 10 mins then break for 10. Then repeat. Once you feel like you don't need 10 minutes of break increase VR time, ie vr 15min break 15min if needed but 10 minutes of break will probably be sufficient. Eventually it will not even phase you so by the time you are flying actual fpv it will be nothing. Good luck and don't give up.
