@11:20, the two props that came off have screws which thread opposite to the rotation of the motors, hence why they back themselves out over time. It seems this affects the screw attached props more versus the nut attached props. But, if anybody here is an older geezer, like myself lol, you may remember having CW and CCW motors which had reverse threaded bolts on the two motors to counteract the loosening of the prop nut.

adding throttle expo helps an overpowered quad feel more manageable while not taking away from the top end/ top speed. if you do it in betaflight, make sure to change the throttle expo centered at 0 throttle, not the default centered at 50%.

I built a few of these style quads (dry weight is 140g), and the trick is 86-91% throttle clip, throttle mid 0, and a throttle expo of 0.1. Also make sure to use longer M2 screws on the motors than stock to keep the props on! That is a pretty awesome frame!

I dont really understand the remote ID thing, does the quad have to transmit the users ID and is that done with the flight controller or like another component to stick on the drone. If you need to find a way to get the drone to transmit this signal then for people like me who have built their drone from scratch then how does that work, would we also need to add an extra transmitter and program it to output our ID or would you be able to buy an ID transmitter that you just give power to and then it just works. Basically what im asking is do we need to program the flight controller to output this remote ID or can you buy a remote ID box and just plug it in.

Here in Europe we finally have clear rules, but it means you have to pass an exam and register for a >250gr drone. Now I'm within the law flying my fpv drones when I'm using an observer. wonder how this would do as a long range quad with 2s 18650s. also the fc might not like the lower voltage of them as cutoff for li ions is 2.8-2.5v but you would get over 2x the energy in watt hours compared to both the lipos on the website.

Hey Ledrib. Instead of a throttle cap just build one with lower KV motors. It’s like flying with a light cap and can get longer flight times. 5“ toothpicks are not only for legal requirements I personally find a lot more pros than full size 5 ” once you get used to them. A little less inertia, that’s about it.

We are just going to have to be happy with 3 and 4 inch quads. 5 inch is great because of the weight and because of the momentum that it has. 5 inch props just happen to be the size prop that can throw that weight just right. If we can't have the weight then I don't see a reason to stick with 5 inch props. But what do I know?

I know this is 2 years old but someone should make a sub 250g drone that's body (FC, ESC etc...) and all you do is "click it" in to the arms with motors with little pop on connectors. This way if you crash and snap an arm you can just unclick the main body and swap out the arms in seconds.

for flex and strength, how about 2 - 1.5 - 2mm layers sandwiched together? bottom layer could be swapped out when it wears out from landings... Ramblings below... still seems the disc load per gram would be the thing we are chasing rather than just 5" like ~600g 5" is ideal right??? So 250... still to me doing the math... 3.25" @ 250 g should have same disc load as 600g 5" but is everyone just putting twice the battery size on the 250 quad? it's 250 if you use a 4s 450... but lets use as a 1100... so everyone with a 250g quad is really 330g? I get 3.65" prop @ 330g would = disc load of a 600g 5" hrmm... then add a gopro... or insta smo (30g) now 360g...

Hi Guys Finally a safe boat, or at least one that will work all day. LOL ! I still don't know who came up with 250gm but it's stupid, but what do I know, I'm just a quad pilot. I did build a 4in 6s quad and it was 182gm with a 6s 450ma lipo. But yours is a 5in. It does look like fun to fly.but I have never had one that a T-mount comes loose, my 2004 3000kv motors don't come loose on 6s Interesting ? I'm curious if it would happen again. On remote ID ? I don't know if it would work, I just don't know if anyone has the form factor to make it work. When the FAA Finally starts making good progress then I will register but not until then. I am still hoping for remote ID to fail. Thanks again for the video and your first time with a running boat ! Sorry Sean.

It just seems a bit less stable, tad wobbly. Drew's flight did not look like LeDrib IMO. INCREDIBLE for a stealth quad IMO. Personally I would look for a different approach to flying it than normal usual freestyle ala 5"...

We have made some changes since this was filmed: different props, tuning the quad, and we have some new motors being built that should be available soon.

@@LetsFlyRC Beautiful work top to bottom, good to hear you are involved with development of motors also. TBH I really don't mind if sub 250 ends up being completely dissimilar from standard 5" builds at all. Quads keep evolving, and so does the way we fly them. I would have loved to spend a week or two with this build just to see how it influences style. DIFFERENT IS GOOOD!
