hi i am currently a 12th grade student (a senior) that attends a public school (with a rating of 10) in America and i'd like to share some of my experiecne with the education here (我打英文因為我中打慢很多) i moved here after my graduation i elementary school in Taiwan, so i have no experiecned the sufferings you have endured but id say that even in my school district, a majority of the tests as well as classwork are formatted in a MCQ (multiple choice questions) format i believe thisis done so it better prepares us for the exams such as AP, SAT/ACT in my school, it is a rather toxic environemnt and grades DO matter (a lot actually) the differnce is probably that we don't have "mandatory" studying sessions some univerisites have SAT/ACT as well as GPA cutoffs so i deem that to a certain extent, it is comparable to the situation you described in the second chapter of the video however, a lot of schools also look into your extracurriculars and other materials you submitted on the same note, i DON'T think the difficulty of getting into good schols is any less, in fact it could be harder as you have to take care of both sides... and they could be hellish at times for instance, my friends would complain about getting a 4 hour sleep often and nap during lectures to my knowledge tawian is currently pushing for a similar admission process where grades aer not everything but i believe the system here (both admission and education) is also flawed my experiecne above is in a public school with a 10/10 rating, which means that in other school dsitricts the education as well as resources they receive could be far from enough which probably contributes to the high drop out rate in univeristies as the difficulty in material increases exponentially and those who fail to adapt would choose to give up in short i think each education system has its flaws and the system here wont be necessasrily better than Taiwan:) ty for the video!
