_I'm doing a top list of Alliance. Might make a video of this later, but for now I'm just commenting what I think._ 9. Rubber Bans Boiz Coming back to this track, it was better than I remember. Initially this was my bottom pick, but then when I remembered Turtle Neck existed, I knew that had to go last. Luckily I don't have quite as much to say about this one, so I won't be here for another few years writing another novel in the comments, it's just with Turtle Neck I had a lot of criticism and I felt I really needed to justify them well to explain my issue with it. This track only ranks lowly from a simple lack of reason to place it higher, but I wpuldn't say it does anything 'wrong' per se. I always forget how good the opening to this track is, with catchy as hell synthetic woodwind, overly-dramatic arp; that lovely aggressive but smooth and bouncy bass, and just the overall atmosphere. If the whole track was as good as the opening I may even go as far as to place it top 5, but sadly I must admit this track to me is one with a bit of a disappointing drop. There's not much really wrong with it, it's a pretty standard Bandlez drop with the signature stretchy bass wubs, butby the same token that's the issue - it feels like a very standard 'Bandlez drop'. Nothing really sets it apart for me, except for the amazing super syncopated rhythm of the 2nd half of the drop, but even that isn't enough for me due to the fact it isn't developed on much. All of the stellar features of this track are the things it doesn't make the main focus, like the weird and stretchy moans of the edited vocals, that is a fascinating sound to me - I don't think I've heard anything quite like it before, and I really feel it should have been included in the drop somehow. Also - I don't usually like to give many points for sample choice, since that's in a way something kind of seperate to the music, but I'd make an exception for this. I just think this is a great idea to theme your track around, and I love the overly-dramatic mantras that "He will bend, but never mend". Honestly; whenever I think about this stuff I want to place this track higher, and I would say spots 9, 8, and 7 are very tight, so I could see myself putting this at 7 at some point. In the end though, when I listen to this track the majority of it is taken up by more mediocre features in comparison; that don't make it 'bad', but do make it harder to justify calling better than other tracks on this album. Overall, great idea, meh execution.
