12th to 14th Doctor Regeneration - Doctor Who Fan Edit

A couple months back I set out to bridge the 12th Doctor's final moments into the 14th Doctor's debut. Using Mocha AE for precise (hopefully) rotoscoping, and Blender to recreate the camera movement from the original shots.
Additionally, I used After Effects for the Regeneration VFX shots and Premiere Pro to compile everything together.
In this version of events, it's the Toymaker who is responsible for the appearance of the 14th Doctor. Just as the 12th Doctor says, "I let you go," the Toymaker grants the wish of the 10th Doctor's "I don't want to go."
This explains the 14th Doctor's new yet similar clothing, his new sonic screwdriver with the same aesthetics as the old, the TARDIS screen and lighting returning to the coral theme, and the reappearance of the chair used in the 2005-2009 Tardis.
There's a greater story beyond this in ways I'd edit the 60th however I'm not sure if I have enough time for that at the moment.
This project was born out of a love for Doctor Who and a desire to challenge myself creatively with visual effects, Most techniques shown here I had little experience in prior. It's not intended to stir controversy among 13th Doctor fans, it's simply a fun, alternative take that some viewers might enjoy incorporating into their watch-through.

I love the additional details such as the interior design being manipulated, hearing the Toymaker's laugh in the background as to suggest he's behind this sudden forced changed, including the music being changed on the background radio. Something the show literally did not even consider or, for that matter, have any interest in whatsoever (apart from Doccy needing therapy and choosing an old face, and apparently changing his clothes somehow). Honestly makes no sense. But yes, this would have worked wonderfully. I think despite some issues with the Thirteenth Doctor, Jodie Whittaker did a good job and had some compelling moments as the Doctor. She's not the greatest, but I wouldn't want her to be forgotten about.

There was a fan theory going around before the 60th Anniversary Specials were broadcast suggesting that The Toymaker had somehow manipulated The Doctor’s regeneration back into an old yet familiar face. With this edit, it supports that theory, considering that we never really got an actual explanation as to why Fourteen donned an old face once again. Also: loved how it implies that The TARDIS created Fourteen’s Sonic Screwdriver, since during “The Star Beast”, he just had it on hand with no explanation whatsoever.

Honestly i think this works well. 12 didn't want to change, similar to 10. 10s face came back because of all the trauma and pain he's carried through his adventures, with this face being an indication that he should stop (from my understanding anyways, but i also like your idea of the Toymaker granting 10s wish of not wanting to go). Have the 60th play out the same; 14 meets donna, the not-things and bi-regeneration. THOUGH, the bi-generation will be a little be different, instead of it being Ncuti, it's Jodie. While 13 wasn't an amazing Doctor, i still see what she was meant to be, a kind, lifted spirit that's not bothered as much from her past. Then after the bi-generation, 13 goes off in her own TARDIS and this is where the 13th Doctor Era takes place. Have everything the same, expect that now technically the 13th Doctor is now the 14th Doctor, but that doesn't matter. THEN, at the end of The Power Of The Doctor, 13 regenerates into 15. From a character perspective, i think this works best, because what still gets me is that Jodie's Doctor was very happy and always excited to see the next thing, her last line even being very charismatic about whatever, or whoever comes next, just to have the next Doctor to be one who's suddenly withered and tired. If we have 13 to 15, it fits together a lot better, (in my opinion). While this could be said about 12's regeneration too, on how he was finally willing to go, though still think it matches a lot better then what we got. 14 can be seen as the rehabilitation Doctor, while Jodie's Doctor, like Ncuti's; has finally let it all go. Idk if this sounds good but it's an idea I've thought of ever since the 60th.

Additionally it’s quite fun to think about how 10 gave 12 his face and 12 finds himself in the same situation. Thematically it all makes far more sense with the talk of wearing himself out and being millions of years old. The “I let you go” and bringing in the face that possibly needs to learn that lesson the most. 13 (and additionally 15) Eras feeling far more different and optimistic certainly works considering the therapy that comes with 14. It would also bring a cleaner solution to 13’s Flux if explicitly mentioned sutekhs death to death reverses that. I loved reading your comment thanks for taking the time to write it!

Thank you! I have ideas to re-edit the 60th into one 3ish hour movie, iron out some of the issues I have with it which would come with some pretty major changes following on from this. Additionaly I have considered doing a 9th Doctor mini episode following on from the events of day of the doctor where he's on the Tardis dealing with the fact that as each hour passes he's slowly forgetting he saved Gallifrey and rather remembers destroying it. During this time rather than enjoy it he decides he needs to calculate how many children were on Gallifrey making him The man in distress to 10 and 11s The man who regrets and the man who forgets

What's the motivation in skipping the 13th? Is it just to tie better in with the 60th specials? Would Capaldi be the final regeneration in this version, rewriting the 11th Doctor's final story and chalking the War Doctor up to the Sisterhood's elixir? I could see a version of The Giggle's ending where the Bigeneration happens, then the 14th still gets killed and regenerates into the 13th, who'll exist side by side adventuring at the same (relative) time as the 15th.
