Another win for this series in my opinion . You have a ship that is beyond her prime , but it stomps literally every fictional ship i could think about . Impossible to comprehend , has a sassy AI that could kill you by just swithching corridors around , could travel both space and time , it maintains its user and passengers by stopping them from aging , and a infinite source of adventures that no other ship could rival and it has a never ending source or energy and if you feel bored with you console , just spawn another and can see both past and future events that will happen or happened to prevent paradoxes . Its just the best fictional ship ever created no questions asked .

Considering a TARDIS internally experiences time differently, sees all of time, and is powered by an ultra dense star, these are the epitomy of a godlike being in all of who, far beyond anything comprehensible.

I love that the TARDIS control room has gradually been getting bigger. I think it reflects that, as a living thing, she's still growing! She can learn new tricks, like opening with a snap, and have her own preferences she sticks to, like the police box shape and her characteristic sounds. I hope the trend continues, as well as keeping the ramps.

Your kinda sorta right. The first doctor's control room was already quite large, but move to Tom Bakers era. I've seen a pic of the thick interior doors open and were closer to the central counsel to close to be the original one. So that room shrunk in size. We didn't see a jump in size till the Doctor Who movie came out , the 8th doctor.

That would be very interesting. I'd kinda like to see it kinda playing out like the Star Trek Voyager episode Shattered. Like we know the Tardis travels around time and it stores random old components of itself in rooms, so whats stopping the Tardis from storing pockets of time within itself? And those pockets of time just happen to contain the older incarnations of the Doctor? Pretty much saying what if all versions of the Doctor exist within the same Tardis at the same time its just the with how massive the Tardis is they never really cross paths with each other?

The tardis is actually many tardis's in one. Just not all of them can actually 'travel' on their own. Sort of like a bunch of nesting dolls, except multiple dolls can exist in the next doll up. Sort of like a main pocket universe, which works like the "doors room" in the matrix movie, each "door" then accesses a smaller scale (but still massive) self contained module, eg, library, pool, guest room, bathroom, auxilery control (wood panel control panel, with a back door) , change room, sitting room etc. During the alternate universe plot with E space, they had to jettison some of the active rooms to cross over back to normal space - which were self contained modules, which is in theory why in later "inside the tradis" episodes, certain rooms like the changeroom/walk in wardrobe are missing as they were in the jettisoned modules, and the clothes are simply strewn about a utility space of walkways instead by that point, instead of the room that had the wardrobe. it is implied, there is a limited number of such specialisable modules active, and any extras need to be removed and placed in storage. The tardis also has a secondary pocket universe it uses as a data storage device, which is where it keeps backups of each of the modules and control rooms, although this is never really explored in detail in the plot - it is likely just another module integrated more closely to the heart of the tardis, and is essentially inaccessible, unless the tardis core specificlly creates a "shortcut" link to allow you to cross into it, which it has done on at least one occasion as part of its security protocol to draw threats away from the tardis occupants. In this way even with a limited number of active modules, so long as they are not occupied they can be removed and shuffled around to provide a seemless experience for the occupants. So although the "active modules" limit is likely something linear like 12, so long as they are not all occupied by a life form, you have in effect infinite rooms if a passenger wanted to visit each one at a time. This same function can also be used to lead a lost passenger back to the main control room, which is how someone in what is basially a pocket universe, never actually ends up lost forever under normal situations.. otherwise there would be multiple corpses littering rarely visited rooms! There is always at least 2 or 3 active "modules" including the control room, the corridor, and any room someone is actually inside. There are exceptions to this rule, there has been instances where the tardis core removes all links to the active control room to keep something out. There used to be a "tardis" mod for minecraft which was actually a pretty faithful simulation of this. It existed in its own pocket world, and could be upgraded to adapt and install additional modules, basically to infiinity, so long as you had the require resources in the upgrades chest. The control room would then allow you to move a "police box" around in any of the main game worlds using a system of buttons and levers.

Many rooms: What the narrator needs to understand is the ship’s interior is not in a 3D space, and is not a hotel of pre-existing rooms. Extra rooms are added or deleted in its pocket dimension as required, providing it has enough power to maintain their existence. If you ran through its corridors it would simply generate more corridor to run in and if you returned, the excess corridor would dematerialise to save power. Rooms that are always needed and/or are storage, are continuously maintained. It is true that the Tardis has access to a stupendous quantity of energy and thus can keep many huge interior volumes maintained, but the Doctor has commented that unused rooms often get deleted.
@contessa.adella5 күн бұрын
The interior being outside our 3D space, and orthogonal to it, doesn’t travel as such, the doorway and external shape are what moves around in time and space. The Doctor is not inside the police “box”…the whole interior is in a different dimension at right angles to ours and right at the door is where the internal dimension lifts free of ours.

The TARDIS is translating for us, so of course ALL her sisters are called TARDIS too - the moment she had to consider the expectations of her human passangers, she "got stuck" in her police-box form (because they would have been very confused, to exit a different thing, than they had entered). So the Doctor gets the same look, wherever he goes (what the TARDIS does in transporting River Song is another matter). The promise on the door to the telephone unit got downgraded from "responding to all calls" to "responding to urgent calls" - the "St. John's Ambulance" sign explains the chosen alias of the Doctor for passing as "human" - every time he looks at the sign, it screems JOHN at him (and Smith really is a common name)😁

So much of this is NuWho babble or false canon from ephemera.🙄One of the many issues with NuWho is trying to explain every little thing! No mystery left in the main character or the TARDIS. Bigger on the inside for instance ... Saying it isn't with some quasi quantum physics explanation really kills the mystery of what made the original concept so good. And anthropomorphizing it was just more NuWho emotionalism. The 4th Doctor would say, "There, there old girl," and pat the console. It was left to the viewer's imagination was it literal or not or just humor
@EthanKristopherHartleyАй бұрын
There was a suggestion that the TARDIS was sentient at multiple points in the original series. The full anthropomorphic personification is certainly further than I used to imagine. But the idea that it takes them to where they *need* to be rather than where they want for example shows some potential understanding.
