Jeff Yagher (Kyle in V) was in high school drama club with me in 1978/79. He was an actor and I was in Props and Set. It was a very fun time! Jeff also played Iden in the Star Trek Voyager 2-parter Flesh and Blood, and his wife Megan Gallagher (who I never met) played a couple of guest roles in DS9.

This video contains two links to Quantum Leap. Galactica 1980 was originally planned to be like QL, with one of the Galactica crew going back in time to stop Baltazar from changing history, while the other communicated with him from the future. That concept later became Quantum Leap. Voyagers had a similar premise.

Buck Rogers was one of the best shows of the 80's. It went downhill when they left Earth to "explore". V the mini series was great. V the series sucked the big one. Hard Time on Planet Earth was an interesting show. Max Headroom was so cool but they just didn't know what to do with it. The 'New' Twilight Zone was just a watered down version of the superior 60's TV show.

I remember Darkroom which was a Twilight Zone show, James Coburn was in fine form as the host. One episode has a man found a radio that was linked to the past of WW II. The consequences of his altering history were fun, maybe I was not used to these twist endings.

Yup, I remember that show. Wasn't there an episode about someone getting attacked by tiny toy soldiers? That was an idea they stole from Stephen King's short story collection Night Shift. They did an adaptation of that story, "Battleground," for the miniseries "Nightmares and Dreamscapes."

I always thought I'd be able to master flying by now if I was him. How hard could it be? And of course you got that FBI guy. So go out in the desert somewhere and practice flying at night. Nobody had cell phones back then to take your picture. Wear a black cat burglar suit over the super suit. Fly around. Maybe put some markers on the ground to get your bearings, things to fly past. Maybe add a couple of old junker cars and see how close you can come to flying into them without flying into them. If you make an oppsie, it was an old car so who cares? This is all basic stuff. Lear to fly, goofball.

"Galactica 1980" was a riot! Replacing Starbuck and Apollo with two lifelike mannequins and reducing the show's budget and writing to cheesy 'cop show' level was a super-genius idea! My favorite scene in the series was when they were at a party on Earth and accidently somebody deactivates a Ceylon by using the microwave oven! WTF! You mean that the 13 Colonies could have avoided genocidal eradication JUST BY popping in a Swanson's Pork Riblets TV dinner with green bean and apple pie side dishes? IF ONLY THEY HAD KNOWN! But the most egregious example of a drop-off in quality has to be "V: The Series". This was a truly excellent pair of mini-series' that got disfigured into a ultra-cheesy self-parody that focused on the 'Diana' character acting like a "Dynasty" vixen. Pure retardsville.

Sometimes such DVD sets are available for a short time and then seem to disappear. At one point, there was a DVD set of the cop show Lady Blue available. Unfortunately by the time I became aware of it, the link was dead and I never saw it anywhere else. Someone did eventually upload a copy. I'm not sure if they were taken from those DVDs or some other set, but the quality isn't the greatest and the episodes were recorded off a cable channel. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to have a copy of it at all, I just wish the quality was better. Actually, I wish the networks would release more of these older, one-season shows on DVD, or even DVD on demand, where they apparently make the DVDs as people order them. I imagine music copyrights get in the way a lot of the time. Reportedly the show Werewolf was going to be released on DVD, but they couldn't clear the rights to two songs and the studio no longer had a separate audio track for just the dialog, so the whole release was scrapped. Personally, I wished they'd just muted those scenes and provided subtitles. Pirates would have spliced in the audio from the TV copies.

Lots of fun stuff here. I remember The Travelers but had forgotten the name. Werewolf and Max Headroom were great. I vaguely remember Hard Time on Planet Earth. V the Series was fun, but the two miniseries were so much better. Wish they left it with those.

The Darkroom was one of my favorite Classic '80's-era Anthologies, as a Pre/Early Teenager! Sadly, it was unjustly short-lived!

@@TimelordR That Era,(1980-87), was not entirely "excrable". 1981/1982's: 'The Darkroom', 1983's: 'V' Mini-Series, 1984-86's: 'Twilight Zone' Reboot and 1983-87's: 'Tales From The Darkside', were three of the most memorable, and deserved better fates. As far as about 75% of the rest...💩!

You forgot 3 other shows, MANIMAL which told of a guy with the ability to turn into any animal at will. AUTOMAN,about a guy who turned his body into an automaton suit when he had to spring into action, & SUPERTRAIN which told about a futuristic train riding the rails of America & the people who rode it.

Darkroom was extremely uneven. Occasionally clever, but often clumsy and forced. The one with Ronny Cox being stalked by toy soldiers was memorable, though.

I even wrote King a letter when I was a kid, asking about that episode, asking if it was based on his story "Battleground." He wrote back saying it wasn't, but said they sounded very much alike... hmmm...

Most of those Once a Hero covers look like rips of Jim Starlin's Warlock run with Captain Justice replacing the titular character. EDIT: Turns out the production company of this show (New World Pictures) was the parent company of Marvel at the time. Marvel even published a comic based on Captain Justice, which was shorter lived than the show.

I believe that was in the 90's and these are 80's Sci Fi Fantasies and so was She Wolf Of London. Oddly enough I hate the Friday The 13 movies, as I don't care for slasher horror movies, but I found the TV series interesting as it didn't follow the same premise.

Captain Justice reminds me of the early 1980s Marvel Comics comic book super hero character code-named Captain Hero. The only difference is that Captain Justice's origin is similar to the origin of the cartoon character Captain Steel from the animated television series The Real Ghostbusters, and a reversed version of the plot from the video game Comix Zone.

The only reason Battlestar Galaxtica failed wasn’t. the show. It was the network. TV networks had a hard time keeping eco-if on the air in the 60s and 70s because sci-if cost twice the money of conventional programming. SFX were very expensive during this time, and BSG used the best effects house, so it was even more expensive. That’s the only knock this show ever got.

OTHERWORLD, V THE FINAL BATTLE, BSG , GREATEST AMERICAN HERO were the very best Sci-Fi shows during the 80's . why they chose to have BUCK ROGERS no longer fighting Space Pirates & having adventures on different planets, but have him as an explorer traveling to different planets is beyond me. even GALACTICA 1980 was a very bad idea. The fun & excitement while they we're in deep space disappeared when they arrived on EARTH. Although I appreciate the attempt to show them trying to adjust to life on EARTH after traveling so long in deep space.
