I am disappointed that Space: Above & Beyond didn't make the list. It was a show about a squad of space marines fighting a mysterious invasion across the solar system. It ran for one season and ended on a cliffhanger with more than half the cast either KIA or MIA. Also, I was hoping that Space Precinct (1995-1996) would make an appearance here.

Agreed, Ger and Nigel made a great pair playing off of each other the way they did throughout the series, and Deborah Duchene's Janette was en effective foil for them both. I always got the feeling from her that she was sighing and rolling her eyes, and thinking "Guys, get over yourselves," when those two got going. She was Not Having It from either of them, even though she respected Nick's choices (while disagreeing with them) and was Lacroix's child. The rest of the characters, notably Natalie and Schanke, were wonderful as well (Catherine Disher was hot and John Kapelos was funny as heck), and it was always fun when the Enforcers popped up, as well. Gotta get the Bluray of this series, now!

I was on the practical special effects crew on NightMan back in ‘97.(it’s first season). We did the pyrotechnic, mechanical, and rigging/flying effects on the show Seeing clips from that show brought back some memories, namely the long hours we spent just trying to get an episode finished. We were constantly under the gun creating the gags for each episode despite the limited budget, lack of prep time and (at times) conflicts of various sort due to the hiring of certain directors who just didn’t get the show. The sad part about NightMan was the fact the producers decided to move the filming location of the show from the greater San Diego/Chula Vista area to Canada for the tax incentives for its second season. This led to a noticeable decline in overall quality in the show and led to its cancellation. Who know what would have happened if they had kept the show in California- ratings for the show were actually on the rise by the end of the first season (mainly due to better script), and it could be surmised that the show could have gone beyond just two seasons if they stayed. Oddly enough, I still have my crew polo shirt to this day lol

In general I'd gladly revisit that series. While I don't remember "M.A.N.T.I.S." terribly well at all, I do remember not having any issue with the lead character being black and liking what little I watched of it just fine. The two miniseries were great, groundbreaking science fiction with a powerful statement. The series sucked. Basically they hit the "reset" button to send everything back to the way it was at the start of the second miniseries. The series finale was the worst I've seen in my life, no wonder it took me twenty years after its production to finally see it. I guess that my local ABC affiliate recognized it for the garbage that it was and decided the series deserved a better send-off than that. 'V" the revival didn't come close to the example set by the miniseries. The first episode of the original 'V' did a superb job of telling the stories of the Visitor's arrival, and a completely plausible retelling of the events leading up to the founding of the Resistance by the end of the first TWO HOURS. The reboot, on the other hand, proceeded at a snail's pace. Not enough progress in the plot between episodes to keep the viewers remotely interested, not to mention plot holes you could drive a bus through. The Visitors didn't even come close to being in authority until the season(and series finale), which should have been entitled "How to completely destroy your show in one episode." Not as bad as the series finale of "V" but pretty damn close.

And what about The Secret World of Alex Mack... They probably didn't mention it on here because it was so offensively racist, sexist, malnourishist, survivalist, naturalist, LIST+LIST....but it was RAD. Actually in Alien Nation the females and males shared the work of caring for the egg. In the first half the female would carry the egg and then they had a beautiful transference ceremony where the males then sheltered the egg. It's was a great show but sadly it was a fox show, and generally if a show doesn't have huge viewership numbers they will axe it. Networks don't really allow shows to slowly build up their audience any more. For example the tv series MASH, it had horrible ratings for the first 2 to 3 seasons, almsot got cancelled but cbs decided to give it a chance., mash eventually found it's audience and wound up running for 11 years and is one of the most successful shows in American history. It's series finale is the most watched series finale of all time, it was the most watched television broadcast in American history until the 2010 superbowl. Networks need to lean to let shows try to find audience and once they find a time slot that works don't change it.

One show left off of this list of course was “the visitor“ (1997), produced by Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin. But it was only made as a one shot with no intent to continue it. Even so it was immensely popular at the time it was on but today, it is very difficult to find episodes, it’s not shown on any networks, and I don’t think it was ever given a proper DVD release either.
