Epic are basically saying we will give you money but only if you do things our way and sell your game through us. While you might be getting a better percentage from them you are still stuck on the epic store which means you aren't being allowed to sell your game in other places which means you are actually getting less money over all. More options of where to get a game means people are getting easier access to it which means you will sell more games. People are more likely to pay for a product if it has ease of access and use. The more you limit something the less it sells.
