You can, sorta. Try it. Select a shape. Copy. Go to another app like TextEdit (in a rich text document, not plain text) and paste. It just converts it to an image and pastes the image.

Gary, I didn't know editing these basic shapes was possible. It's almost practically a font editor! Bézier curves, adding and deleting points, etc. Apple should really do a font editor; I know there are many tools for this but they all have their own quirks and various issues. Of course, as a developer I _could_ make use of the many existing system libraries in MacOS and _write my own_ -- but meh, I'm lazy 😉

One of your best Nuts and Bolts. Thank You. Would like to watch a video on how to annotate an image after it's been placed in a Pages Document.
@macmost3 жыл бұрын
You could do it in Preview before importing (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKXdhpurrbB0gbs) but once in Pages you can't use the markup tools. You can, however, simply add shapes and put them on top of the PDF.

No, you can't "follow curve" with shapes and text in Keynote or Pages. Using a third-party app is what you need to do.

Think of the outline of a rainbow without the colour but not such a steep arc, this is what a paper cup looks like before it's formed into the finished product, the image has to follow the curve or when it's formed, the artwork will look odd. ? What is the difference between Unite and Group?
@macmost24 күн бұрын
Group just makes it easy to select those shapes and move them together as one. You can ungroup them and they are back to normal. They still behave in print/PDF export as separate shapes. It just saves you the time of having to select, say, 4 shapes, and move them together. You can select the group of 4 shapes with one click and move them. Unite is very different as it creates a new shape that merges the selected shapes. You end up with one single shape that is the result of that merge.

You’re very informative. But I’ve come to the conclusion. Apple absolutely sucks. it’s impossible to navigate. Counter intuitive everything is hidden. and impossible to rotate something as simple as an arrow insert without reading up manual. Windows are simple. It’s got a little rotate button selected item and there you go. What is wrong with Apple?
@Tedsistav-tm5ee7 ай бұрын
I’m sitting in front of this thing for 45 minutes trying to rotate an app an arrow instead of making it point to the right make it point down what could be simpler. I’d love to meet the designers of this stupid thing. Any comments on that?
@macmost7 ай бұрын
Are you trying to rotate a line with an arrowhead, or an arrow-shaped shape? If a line with an arrowhead, then you can drag either end of the line to any location you want. If a shape, then you can either hold the command key down and drag any one of the 8 control points to rotate, or look in the Format, Arrange sidebar and there is a section called "Rotate" with controls. Looking for the term "Rotate" in the Help menu brings up this information pretty quickly, FYI.
