Regondi - Reverie. 10:40 Regondi - Air. 20:42 Barrios - Sueno (compilation) 30:58 Tarrega - Recuerdos. 39:45 Rodrigo - Invocation. 45:42 Torroba - Zafra. 51:42 Verdery - Now and ever (with sheets) 57:30 I recommend to rewind one or two minutes from the given timestamp to listen David’s explanations on the video. Below is my short summary on this lesson: Equal timing pami and consistent tone (same sound) -Pluck am mi (and try other arpeggios - as start of practice/warm-up) -Refine nails (to feel same resistance in ami) Do not stress base p (unless noted by composer (3rd base in Recuerdos)) rather ami shall sound clear as melody. -Plat tremolo with gentle p and strong ami -Play tremolo with very soft p then mute p -Play tremolo with foot tap beat at a then m then i (to not stress base) Change in amplitude (loud/soft), speed, tone (bright/dark) -Play with chord and determine tone and musical articulations when played as tremolo.

my sentiments exactly, Egos can ruin us and I dont see one with David. . I think we can have pride in our playing (high confidence) and still not be full of ourselves. He is competitive I am certain...prob. more with himself than others as thats what keeps us in top form.... always wanting to improve.

Your sharing of your knowledge and practice is incredibly generous and totally lacking pretentiousness. Many thanks, I'm so glad you're there. Incidentally: your voice sounds more and more like Sean Connery (a compliment). :-)

A true Masterclass! David Russell should be one of the lineup for “MasterClass“ online teaching forum alongside the other grandmasters of their craft , such as Scorsese, and Samuel L. Jackson, Margaret Atwood etc., I’d love to see that! These new phone upgrades must read your mind too! I had just been thinking , “hmm , I wonder if there’s anything useful online that could help my tremolo”(44 yrs young testing gr.5 RCM this semester) and this video was the 1st- top of the list on KZbin without having typed a search! lol One of the pieces I chose For my test was the OP.60 etude no.7 Carcassi so that I could learn tremolo as an intro to the technique almost and was grateful to hear David use it as an example for beginning tremolo exercises as it uses lots of different strings for its technique, not just high E! :) I also wish to sincerely express my gratitude to everyone involved in putting this class together, their insights2 but especially David if he may read this for enhancing my knowledge / comprehension / skill withIn two hours time - once again! I learned a great deal from you sir, so far just online and this1 , ty so very much for your professionalism/selflessness, From Canada with love, J. R. W.

The part about killing the base note i don't quite get, but i know it when i hear it. A smooth and fluid sound. I saw someone playing a tremolo and his right hand was not moving fast really, but his timing was so good that it sounded faster than the hands looked. Timing is everything. Thanks for the help.

I was taught by Geof kitchen who went to the same college as John Williams my idol. I always thought John Williams was the greatest until I started watching you tube, where I see Simon dinnigon an amazing guitarist. Then David Russell, his technique and playing is truly mesmerising and brilliant. I play a Greg smallman and thought I could play to a high standard, I’d love to have a course off this guy as my guitar is just a guitar not played to its full potential now watching David play.

The score, in his most diffus on the tremolo, mind shamelessly! ... In the sense that even in a quick trend evidence a void in correspondence with the touch of the thumb touch, generating a sourd effect of drama, which Puda does not eliminate even high speeds: Quala Anywhere's writing and Lattura apps can demonstrate it. If, in correspondence of the thumb, however, a fourth note equal to those of the following triplet is inserted, the effect is regular and, direct, perfect. Certainly Quero entails that, for example, an arpeggio of anlare, medium and index will angent the ring finger; And that, in the next beat, contemporary to the thumb acts the medium followed by the index, aule and medium. In the third beat, therefore, there will be: index, ring finger, medium and index. We are so exactly in the middle of the joke and we made three three quartino beats for a total of 12 touches. In the second half of the joke we repeat the same alternation of the first half. So, for each joke, we will have 24 beats of the tremolo instead of 18; And the Riscola will be not only that of greater intensity but also and above all that of a more appreciable regularity even in a significantly slower trend. To make Agehole more and intuitive, the execution can be divided the 24 note in three groups of eight, so that that after the 1st beat with the auulera it gives greater volume to the 9th with the index and at 17 ° with the medium. Test for creation! I am therefore convinced that, when a guitarist performs the tremolo in a impeccable way, generally not to be sure following the score on which the A studied!
