13 day old gorillatwin @Burgers' Zoo

I just can't get enough of them. I arrived at the zoo at 11.15 AM and went straight to the gorillas. I had enough food and lemonade with me, so no need to leave them LOL. I left when the zoo almost closed (6.55 PM). It's great to watch them, all of them ofcoursee, but especially the twin.

Many parents DO treat their children like that today, pampering them and never disciplining them for bad behavior. Even if that behavior involves abuse of the parent(s) themselves! It's amazing how similar gorillas are to humans. The way she rubs their backs, kisses their heads, cuddles them tight is like every mom. The curious family members trying desperately to hold the babies tiny hands. You can see the sense of peace and contentment in the mom's eyes holding her babies. For me, that's just the problem with them! The one on the (mother's) left, pulling on the available nipple but preferring to try to steal the one from the infant on the right, has already learned greed at 13 days old! They're also far too much like human babies to seem cute to me. I love just about all animals but monkeys and I think it's for this reason. Two things to add: 1)I'm not sure how much she's holding them tight as they're holding on to her tight. Research has found that infant primates who aren't human are born with the instinct to clutch on to their mothers for dear life. 2)Not everybody in a human family is obsessed with getting to touch or even see a new baby! Plenty of people don't like babies and I'm one of them. I try to keep as far from one as I possibly can. Give me a kitten or a puppy any day!

They are newborns; they need the mother to keep them safe in the wild. It is instinct. It is not necessarily human. It is for survival more than a human quality. All animals do similar things to keep their young safe and protected. All of them do not have paw like hands. They just have paws.

It’s really amazing that she’s able to raise two babies at the same time with not much help. In the Wild it would be super hard to get around until they are old enough n can hang on to mom without her holding them. Im absolutely fascinated with primate n monkey babies n their mothers. The babies are so ridiculously cute and the mothers are always so dedicated and caring it’s just amazing to watch.

Двое подмышками болтаются, там и едят и испражняются, пахнет она огого) зато мелкие в целости. Самцу в глаза не смотрит, но рядом сидеть боится. Кто-то рядом прошел - тут же встала. А вначале подросток дергал мелкого за лапку - это старший ее ребенок, иначе не позволила бы трогать малыша. А мы думаем, что только людям тяжело с детьми. У людей хотя бы есть жалость и уступки беременным и родившим, в обществе, а приматы боятся из рук выпустить.

They are strong babies moving their heads around and holding them up! Much more so than human infants at this same age and especially smaller twins! Mom is doing magnificent with them and her milk supply looks great, so they are eating great!
