Very nice video, Ben. I loved the shots you got and will take all of them as input for my planning of a trip to Georgia.

There's acutually an international Airport in Kutaisi as well, it's also frequently much cheaper to fly there. The downside being of course, if you wanted to visit the capital, you'd have a 3-4 hour drive after landing.

Would you mind sharing with the rest of us the trail of the 'easy way' to Tikanadze? I am going this july and I would love to hike a summit. But a part from Mount Kazbek, there is not much information about other summit treks around the Kazbegi Region.

The mongols settled in Hungary in 2024 year ago and established the country . and Long before their great grand father the Great Khan swept over the caucatians and there were allready people who lived there.... So yes , between 3000 - 5000 years old culture there in many of the Old Soviet area. and the coucasia is definetly one of them
@Rhadamistus53 ай бұрын
@@erzsebetnilsson580 nothing you just said makes any sense. No mongols or khans settled in the Caucasus in history - Not one Asian Mongolic or Turkic language is spoken in the Caucasus, only Caucasian languages and peoples. Only time mongols came through with success was during Tamerlane in the 14th century, and the kumyks live in the northern steppes near Kazakhstan. Georgians defeated Turks and Mongols in the end after brief inroads and attempts annexations.

I'm loving the commentary style video, how would you say georgia compares to other trips you've been on?
@itsbigben Жыл бұрын
Thank you bro! Figured I would try it out. I’d say it compares well across the board. I think cheap and safe is the key takeaway. It definitely is both of those things, and from my experience, having those two together is rare. I would also say more rugged than, say, Slovenia for example, which was more rugged than Italy. But I would say it is not more rugged than Mexico.

It is wrong that there is only one international airport in the country! International airports also operate in Batumi and Kutaisi!!!

How do the winters get there? Could I ever go there during their winter time and summit a mountain?
@itsbigben Жыл бұрын
A bunch of other photographers did a huge skiing and heli skiing trip last year. I wouldn’t recommend going onto really any summit there in winter but skiing off of one, absolutely, just realllllly depends on the peak and the avi risk

Georgia is Christian country, chosen by God and protected by God. If you want Islam, go to Iran or Arabian nations.

@itsbigben10 ай бұрын
Surprisingly no issues. It seems they understand that if a trail begins in Georgia and goes to a summit in Georgia, if the trail goes into what is technically Russia then that’s fine. Of course they have legal authority to detain you for doing so, but I’m not sure if there is a recorded case of that. Thousands of people a year partially enter Russia “illegally” while submitting Kazbegi and nothing ever happens
