Timeless, understated chic. I had to smile: I have had and worn the Hunter boots, riding boots, skinny jeans to wear with the boots, sturdy hiking boots (1 pair in leather, 1 with Gore-tex for my rainy climate), quilted vest/gilets, cable knit 100% Aran wool pullover ($4 at a charity shop!), a fedora, scarves, and gloves for years. All I’m missing is the waxed jacket, but I have something similar. Lucky me: I live in an urban centre with forests and wilderness trails only a few minutes (yes, minutes) from my home. So I can switch from my city look to my country look almost instantly. ❤️🇨🇦

I love this style. I don’t have all these items but I do try to emulate the look and I started doing that years without even realizing it. (It began with silk scarves, riding boots, gilet, riding jacket or blazer, ruffle collar, skinny jeans in boots, leather gloves, checkered shirt) I was about nine years old when I saw Ralph Lauren ads in the 90s and I fell in love with this English countryside/equestrian style.

My favourite look! I buy Joules clothing when it goes on sale and buy silk scarves second hand and at charity shops. January/February is a great time to check charity shops for new silk scarves as people donate unwanted Christmas presents. I have all these! Even the Fedora ( black and burgundy) my other essential is a heated gilet and sometimes a wool headband/ear warmer. And in the deep winter a woolly hat! I have the Rydale boots they also do great check shirts and shirts with wee ducks etc on. I also got some Fairfax and Favour boots second hand which are lovely. A long waterproof coat is useful in the deep winter if you need this look for practicality and the best for waterproofing and style are from Jack Murphy. Actually a fashion look I’m very good at 😂.

I’ve loved this style for years, since I was a teenager in the 70s. You and the Princess of Wales do it so well! My two style icons. I got two really nice Ralph Lauren/Macy’s collab. quilted jackets for this look last year. I also love the Scottish brand The House of Bruar for this look, they have the genuine British Country clothes and accessories like great, genuine suede boots in locally-grown and - woven wool and other fine materials. But, I must say, their sizing is a nightmare for us Americans because they don’t indicate whether the sizes in the pull-down size selection menu under each item is in US, UK or EU sizes, and they use different sizing ranges for different items. Nor do they have our accounts online where we can see what sizes we ordered previously. I hope they get their website up to par soon, I’ve had to return nearly every order because of wrong sizing, they charge $18 for return (international) shipping, and it’s a hassle. I have to drive to another city to drop off these international returns. Their long, fitted cashmere/wool blend coats are great and reasonably priced, but I think they have partly or wholly poly linings, which don’t breathe. It’s worth the perseverance and patience to get the real thing, I think, from this brand in spite of these drawbacks. I wear long wool skirts (my preference) for this look, too, not just trousers. Pendleton has a nice burgundy tartan midi one and a khaki green, short, pleated one (inaccurate size chart, size up at least one, perhaps two, sizes) right now. Get a classic style in natural-fiber fabric and you can wear it forever, classic, country clothes don’t go out of style.

Thank you for doing my favorite look!

Leather knee-high boots work well for this look, too, if conditions aren’t too muddy or wet. I find them more comfortable than my “Wellies” (Le Chameau), which can get sweaty because they’re waterproof. I love either a classic wool blazer or quilted jacket over a sweater (over a cotton or silk shirt) for this look, with either a wool midi skirt and tights a la Diana, late POW, thick leggings or stretchy riding trousers. (Gilets don’t work for me, my torso will overheat and my arms freeze, but they look great for this country look, too).
@nikkisue17152 ай бұрын
This style reminds me of Ralph Lauren. I wish I had a Gilet when I was recently visiting England. It would have come in handy under my raincoat.

This is my personal style since my youth with the exception of skinny jeans. I wear what I call the Katherine Hepburn style and wide trousers with a belt or pleats even a closer fit, but always a wide or even flared...but only rarely...leg jeans or pants. The denim western look with a skirt is the top end of style in my opinion. But Katherine had a flair that is unbeatable. Much like a few of these pieces...😄💖

Hi Gemma Darlin! I am THRILLED you have made this video!! Last year my husband and I moved to a small country town in Tennessee. Most women here dress MUCH more casually than where we were in Sarasota, FL I don't happen to like their sloppy look at all! So I have been trying for the British country look, and now you've put it all together! I'm still struggling to find a check blazer in an affordable price. though. The shopping near here is pretty pathetic, as well. I've been told it's the demographics. Anyway, I will keep trying. Thank you SO VERY MUCH!!

To really get the country look your clothes need to be good quality fabrics and old. DuBarry's were made in Ireland, but about 10 yrs ago manufacture moved to China, so new DuBarry boots are inferior to old DuBarry's. Also tweed from many fashion outlets often has a large proportion of acrylic fibres, real tweed is ALL wool because of its against showers and cold.
