Hello miss obviously spot on lesson for learning festivals related vocabulary but I have no idea what the festival is all about could you tell something more about Halloween. what I only know is that the aura around the event is spooky with lots of eerie activities. what is Jake o lantern and what is trick or treat, why we mention grim reaper and why do we watch gory movies and why we turn ourselves into scary get up. thanks

Hello Hadi ✨. Thanks for watching this Halloween phrasal verb lesson and for your questions ☺️. A Jack o Lantern is a hollowed out pumpkin that has a candle inside and a face carved into it. It is the most common Halloween decoration. Jack o Lanterns come from a traditional Irish story about a man named Jack who tricked the devil. When Jack died, God wouldn't let him into Heaven and the devil was angry at him and wouldn't let him into Hell. The devil sent Jack away with only a burning piece of coal to light his way. Jack put the coal in a turnip and wanders around the earth unable to rest. People in Ireland used to make Jack o Lanterns out of turnips, but turnips are hard to carve, so when they immigrated to Canada and the USA, they used pumpkins instead. Now we continue this tradition. I made a lesson a while back about how to make a Jack o Lantern: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqSoaaKOgq6mbK8 🎃 A short summary is that Halloween is an annual celebration on the evening of Oct 31st in Canada and the USA. A long, long time ago people believed that on Oct 31st ghosts would return to earth and cause problems for people if they left their houses. To avoid being caught or bothered by a ghost, people would dress up in scary costumes to confuse the ghosts. Nowadays, we've kept the idea of Halloween being a scary time of year, but our costumes aren't necessarily scary. On Halloween children dressed in costumes go from house to house and yell "Trick or Treat" to get candy and chocolate from their neighbours. This is called trick or treating. Traditionally, if a child didn't get candy (a treat) then they would play a prank (trick) on the owners of the house, but that isn't really done anymore. Last year, I made a lesson I think you might enjoy which talks a bit more about Halloween: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX-0m6trZr2UiNE 👻 This response was a bit long, but I hope you'll find it helpful 🤗.

Great video! I love dressing up for Halloween. This year, I’m dressing up as Bowser from Super Mario Brothers! I don’t usually like horror movies because they freak me out, but I’m going to try and watch one today!

Hi Dr. B 🤗. Happy Halloween 🎃 👻. Bowser sounds like a fun costume, that's awesome 🤩! Which horror movie did you watch? I used to love scary movies when I was a teenager, but I'm not really into them anymore because I get scared easier now😅.

Yes thank you very much. Me, I don't listen on Daddy's word, he's going to talk too much myself. I think about her too how I should get there. I say it's not if I arrived in Paris. I want to send a message to her but she spoke to understand everything, you won't but thank you very much.

I'm the 10th like on your Halloween Video especially with being my favorite Holiday and what I love best about Halloween is being confronted by Terrors of Immoral beings having is a Duel with them. For this Year's Halloween I made myself a Costume dressing up as a WW2 Russian Soviet Soldier.

When I was a uni student, I completely forgot an exam day of a class. Then, I realized it on THE DAY when I was supposed to take the exam. That freaked me out a lot haha.

Hi Atsushi ☺️. Thanks for sharing about the time you freaked out due to forgetting your exam. At least you didn't completely forget and were able to realize it BEFORE the exam and not after it was finished 😅. Happy Halloween 🎃.

Thinking about what could happen to me if I get arrested by the regime's forces, really freaks me out, there are many reports of rape in the regime's detention centers for both female and male prisoners. But I would continue my contribution to the fighting, I don't want these horrible tactics to scare me.
