True but 1) this comment made me laugh :) and get out of that depressed state instantly 2) I like the end: hopes never dies ;) I was waiting for the punch line... I love the way the emotion rises in the music gradually and find it interesting that the lyrics here are completly (well maybe there's a story behind) made of that fantasy imaginary world instead of the typical love song that usually goes with that kind of emotional ride. The video is interesting to watch and I like the contrasting birds flying free of fear or obstacles versus the horses drowning in the water or emotional world. There's a lot to say about horses and their qualities and they're well described here. Great composition, though it is sad.

Agreed. I can't understand when everyone says hope never dies. There is no hope for those poor horses & they die a painful death full of terror. For me this is just too painful to contemplate. I know its just a song but for me this is not a song about hope. Its a song about pain suffering & a painful death. There is no hope.

Very very long time fan here: I really miss songs like this (Songs from the first album in general). I still enjoy the newer songs (That's How You Write a Song, Magic, Looking my Way and so on) but I think the first two albums were the best in terms of how much I liked listening to them. I really appreciate the fact that you stick with whatever you feel like the most. Always continue to be yourself in your music ❤ - we will always be here to hear it, no matter the genre and no matter the song. I really just needed to put this out here. I also thought the 'Fairytales' album was awesome (although I was blessed never to think of the meaning behind the lyrics of 'Horses'! And music videos like others, like "OAH", "Into a fantasy", "Roll with the wind"... there are some other songs that it's difficult to listen all the way through recent songs, to be completely honest. But I guess that's the same with all artists. And I appreciated the rain video, even though I wasn't madly in love with the song that went with it (^_-)/. Anyway, good luck Alex.

The first time I listened to this song, a few years ago, my English weren't so good, yet it made me cry my heart out for some reason. I loved and love horses, they're so majestic. From then on, every time I listen to it I get goosebumps all over and I'm in the brink of crying. Now that it was accompanied by illustrations, I really cried. This song is so emotional and beautiful. I'm so glad it finally has an actual video! It remains one of my all time favourites.💜 🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷

How do you relate it with your own life? The great Alexander, here in america 13, is superstitious. Most buildings won't have a 13th floor. Instead, they divide 12 into 2 parts and then skip to 14. They do it by saying 12a and 12b.

This reminds me of Diogenes, one of the founders of the philosophy of minimalism. He lived long ago with nothing but a barrel for a home and a bowl for his water and soup but one day he saw a kid cupping his hands to drink water and tossed away his bowl as well. Then, one day, Alexander the Great, having heard of him, sought him out and offered him anything he wanted within his power to grant it to which diogenes simply said, "Could you step aside? You're blocking the sunshine." Which back then was worthy enough of insult to be killed for...

But he wasn't killed. Instead, Alexander bid him farewell turned to his steward and said if I didn't have to be who I am, then diogenes is who I'd like to be. Diogenes was known for walking around during the daytime with a lit lamp while saying, "Are there any honest men out there? I'm simply looking for an honest man. Nope, it appears there's none to be found!"😂😂

@@dakotapeters5654 I just wrote that I liked the song and how it moves me with its melody and story. I have no idea what you're trying to ask in your first comment. Most cultures have a superstition with the number 13. F1 drivers never use the number etc. In Greece we consider Tuesday 13th unlucky for some reason as well. The song is simply heartbreaking for me. 13 horses are left to drown in the sea, trying to survive, but doomed to fail. I also don't understand how Alexander the Great is relevant to a comment that just states that I liked a song about horses and how the illustrations make it even more heartbreaking.

@Alexandra-cu7cd I was messing around with your name. Sorry. I have a tendency to jump to the next thing that I'm reminded of when I type things out or talk. So Alexandra reminds me of Alexander the Great, and he reminds me of Diogenes. I'm not that great socially cause of it sometimes cause the other person or people involved may not understand or be interested in what I say. But I like to think of it as random filler information. I didn't know 13 was superstitious in many cultures, though that's interesting... I know some cultures go off a 13 month lunar based year. I appreciate the song and the added information. Hopefully, the ending to the dying horses' story is that they are reborn as sea horses so they can swim. That'd make it less sad. Which I. I'm probably going to just pretend it is the ending, so I can feel like karma came around and blessed them with a gift for what they had lost.

I find the song very motivating and optimistic. Though we all are doomed to sink(die) , the stronger our belief is, the longer we keep swimming (living). That's how I understand the chief message of this video which seems to contrast both the sad tune and the gloomy color scheme. Living is believing.

this song is beautifully painful. it is properly amazing in a way i cant even describe... you can hear the suffering in the lyrics and the sound. often times i find sad songs being about love, but this one is more personal, different from the ones that ive heard. i love it! its now one of my favorite songs honestly
