there are good reasons for the rules but Jimmy obviously has a feel for the tools. They're his and he's been using them for years. Being safe in these situations often means having a feel for the irregularities of the wood, knowing how the machine is calibrated etc. and it's very hard to know someone's learned that. So when people are trained they're taught basic safe processes that don't require much actual skill, often also because workplace injuries can shut down businesses and the stakes have to be as low as possible.
@jamesmisener3006 Жыл бұрын
I've used all these shortcuts at one time or another except the nail gun one. Nail guns are unpredictable tools and I've seen more injuries with them over all other wood working tools in my lifetime. Thanks for this informative safety video Jimmy! I'll add that you should NEVER plunge cut a circular saw into a rafter to stow it safely when working on a roof; you should always climb all the way down to store it and climb all the way back up to then safely use your dad's nailgun. Or, go buy a new saw with a rafter hook and throw away the old skilsaw you've got 20+ years of experience using. That old saw is probably too dangerous, too!
