I solve these two problems in this video:
1) Elementary gas phase reaction A - B + C is taking place in a PFR. The molar flow rate of pure A is 5 mol/min at 12 atm pressure and 177 C temperature. The rate constant at a given temperature is 0.2 min^(-1). Find the PFR volume for 85% conversion of A.
(16:16) 2) A reaction with no volume change is carried out in a CSTR ( A - B). The entering concentration is 2.5 mol/L. The obversed conversion was 50%. An engineer watned to achieve higher conversion and installed a PFR with expected conversion of 63%. The team was surprised to see that the conversion was actually 67% when they installed the PFR. Show quantitavely why this would be the case.

What's reaction engineering got to do with the lord? Serious question. I'm a regular at bible study!

At CRU meetings we used to talk about how the bible is a constant. Chris Cramers class was online, so it's always safe to watch lecture videos on youtube. Chris, I'm doing my best to pass peters class, but the Minneapolis police department endorsed me for president of the united states of america so if I have to repeat a class it's not the end of the world. Peter wants me to have medical accommodations for the exam. I understand his thought but I also have my history with crime and I believe learning should be possible without the doctor some day. My classmates agree this will be on the second midterm. Neil Amundson said memorization is the root of all knowledge and peter agrees. So watching is a step towards remembering. Peter talks about the table of integrals in the back of the textbook. My criminal history is why I made fun of peter for being fat. It's cool to be buff as a criminal. Christer aakeroy said think more like a scientist. Thats where I'm working on my phone habits.

Peter's big belly isn't isothermal when his wife kills him for eating too many donuts. Ca=Cao(1-x) I memorized that one. Brandon Tatum asked what chemical engineering has to do with my presidential campaign. Solving equations is a good skill to have. You have to solve equations to know how to build muscle.

For those who have not this book on their own it would be better if you give us first these Problems and then we try to solve it . Thank you

I have trouble understanding the integration of the second problem ( PFR design equation ) , can you explain how it was integrated? I integrated it myself and got: Fa0/kCa0 [ -ln(1-x) ]

why can't you find the volumetric flow rate from the ideal gas law equation, and thus find the concentration??

Can you tell me why didnt u use the formula of Concentration in term of epsilon? In the second question

which of your videos explain the epsilon?

+Haiderroo Hi - I haven't done a video specifically on epsilon but epsilon = yao*delta where yao is the mole fraction of A and delta = d/a+c/a-b/a-1 assuming your reaction is aA+bB -> cC+dD. It is in chapter 3 of the text book (elements of chemical reaction engineering).

Raili T do you know if doing epsilon through the Levenspiel way gets a different answer? for example im trying to get epsilon for 4A + 2B ------- 2C
@railitaylor

Hi - so epsilon would be whatever the mole fraction of A is (assuming A is your reference) multiplied by 2/4-2/4-4/4 (delta). Or you could rewrite your formula as A + 1/2B ---> 1/2C and then delta would be 1/2-1/2-1 (basically the same thing).
