@_ Shyeoran Math is an interesting subject yet unique to everyone. It all depends on what you think of it, math topics are just there to guide you not to make you successful in it. A lot of people forget that mathematics is the foundation of many concepts and if you develop that sense to understand the structure behind that concept. Then it will more likely help you in the future.

@@Sakshi-xo7jr so think of his explanation like this. Say you have 1 apple in your hand and this apple will double every 1 hour. It means that at 1 hour from now, you will have 2 apples, and 2 hours from now you will have 4 apples. Now ask yourself how many apples was in your hand right now? Currently it is at 0 hours. Therefore the power of 0 equals 1 apple since no growth has happened.

@Jishan Amhed: I hope i'm too hard on you, but honestly... You don't know what your teacher knows and doesn't know actually. I'm pretty sure many math teachers do not see why it needs to be explain that way to be clearer, because it all sounds obvious to most of them. The only known fact is that you didn't understand back then. Don't project your failure on your teacher: yes, it is his responsability and partially his fault, but of course it's a shared responsability, and truely, it's mainly yours. Obviously i can tell you this because i was in your shoes. I didn't understand either. I blamed my teachers for being so bad. And eventually, i realized if i had pay more attention, or work more, i would have understand eventually. That what Mr Woo did, basically. Regarding the video: We can all agree it's way clearer being explained this way. When only ONE guy manage to do things in a better way that MANY other guys, who are still MORE ADVANCED than the rest of us, what does it mean? That the other guys are failures? Or that the one guy is a genius?

I have never ever ever EVER understood logarithms or even exponentials SO CLEARLY and so fucking elegantly and deeply until this very simple, elegant, coherent explanation. Why has no one ever told me this before? Instead of the mind-numbing approach of 'this is the definition, remember it', you actually told a story--the way maths SHOULD be taught, and, conicidentally, the best way for me to learn anything. I am a 27 year old physicist going for my master's, and you're the first person to ever explain this concept so beautifully. Seriously, thanks. I became a better physicist because of you tonight. Also, I can't believe KZbin never recommended you before. What a shame.

I think it might be helpful for some students to show that logarithms are to exponents as division is to multiplication. They both are asking what did you either raise or multiply a number by to get an answer. So recall 10/2 = 5, but how exactly did we do that? We had to determine what we had to multiply 2 by to get 10. So logarithms are very similar to that. So for log base 2 of 1024 is 10, but how did we do that? Well we had to determine what we had to raise, instead of multiple, 2 by to get 1024.

Eddie, wish I had you as maths teacher in 1967 to 69. My basic understanding would have been much clearer despite doing an engineering degree at Uni later. Excellent.
