Here's another ghost girl (my favorite) "Corpse Party" Sachiko Shinozaki. Depending of the game (or manga) there are many stories about her demise but I'm telling the psp version. After witnessing her mother's accidental death at the hands of her school principal who wanted to rape her, he killed her and buried her on the school basement When her spirit started to haunt him, he unearthed her corpse, and cut her tongue so she couldn't tell anyone about his actions. Later she takes possession of the principal's son (who is a teacher in the school) driving both father and son to madness and finally death. Her suffering drove her mad and sadistic going as far as to take corporeal form in the living world to kill some students of her possessed victim in a rather gruesome manner with a pair of rusty scissors. When the school gets demolished she uses her power to create a dimension containing a copy of the school, a place where her victims and her victims victims would relive their death and pain constantly thus turning them into vengeful spirits that would roam the dimension and kill new victims, taked to the school by a ritual posted online. The old nice Sachiko still exists separated from her evil self, trying to help the protagonists to escape and/or break the curse. Her physical appareance is very similar to child Alma, being a purple (or gray) skinned glowing little girl with long black hair covering a good portion of her face and wearing a red torn up dress, while her good side has human colored skin wears a white of the dress and has a hair clip leaving her purple eyes visible. There is a lot more to know about this cute yet terrifying little girl ghost and her victims but you'll have to play the games to know more.

The appearance of those horror movie ghost are actually based on a type of Japanese ghost, which has been depicted to look like that since about the Heian Era, so over 1000 years ago or so. The concept of creepy Japanese ghost woman with really long black hair, pale white skin, and (sometimes) white clothes has been around for centuries.

They only leave if they get revenge or have their last desires fulfilled.

I think female ghosts tap into our deep-seated fear of the unknown since girls/women are normally viewed as "weak", "harmless", and "innocent" by society IRL, so when we subvert expectations and turn them into a source of threat/danger, our primitive brains can't quite comprehend how and why, and instantly go into panic mode. Also, the reason there are more female ghosts than male ones, I think, is bc it matches society's gender roles and norms. Men are usually stereotyped as "physical beings" (take fictional serial killers or any demons/monsters that kill with brute force for examples), so naturally, as the polar opposite to that trope, women would be depicted as "spiritual/supernatural beings".

As creepy as the Falling Woman is, she’s small fry compared to Blinded, the boss ghost from the Second Night in the original Fatal Frame. Blinded is the tormented spirit of a woman whose eyes were ritually gouged out by a rather horrifying mask, then used in a second rite to essentially play hide and seek with little girls to determine which of them would be the next two used in the Himuro Family rituals ten years later. She stumbles and gropes around the mansion, wailing about her missing eyes and how dark everything is, and this being a Fatal Frame game, you have to stare right at her face and the blood dripping from beneath her blindfold. Worse still, she reacts to sound, so if she gets too close and you haven’t charged the camera’s capture circle enough, you have to walk because if you run, she will hear you and immediately race in your direction. You run across Blinded several times over the course of the second chapter, and she never gets any less scary no matter how many times you play the game.

Did you know, a ghost is much scarier when given a very strange name like test subject 4 or specimen B1? That's because, when given a proper name, it discribes them and you know a little about what they look like and when given and anonymous name like I said before, it makes them anonymous and and it's much scarier. Example: The blind maiden is obviously blind because it says in the name and you know it's a girl. However, if you say- test subject 177, you have no idea what it is. I like the nominate the ghost encounters in Pokemon to the list. The haunted mansion in Diamond an Pearl especially creeped me out as I wasn't expecting to really find anything in the location besides ghost Pokemon (primarily rotom), so seeing 2 human ghosts was freaky. The ghost girl in X and Y also gets honorable mention because, like with the first 2, she randomly comes out of nowhere, in a business building no less. But I think the Diamond and Pearl are still scarier as something about watching the older sprites on screen is unnerving.

Awesome! Alma is the best! She's so sad and terrifying. She was forced to carry male clones of her while in a coma. They are Paxton Fettel and Pointman. That's partly why she chases you in F1. Another spooky ghost girl from a video game is Hisako from the Killer Instinct reboot while she's not evil like the other examples on this list she is quite aggressive and is capable of contorting her body in battle and can do the same to her opponents with her possession ability.

Sachiko from Corpse Party... She kills our friends two times in some kind of Deja Vu that she can control and we confront her (and other three kids ghosts and other ghost, creatures and traps) for three games (not counting Corpse Party 2 Dead Patient that has different charecters)

Honestly, Alma from FEAR had a lot happen to her throughout the entire series of the FEAR games. Pretty sure she becomes pregnant in the end of FEAR 2 and for most of F3AR, you are constantly reminded of that fact, even through the F3AR Collector’s Edition package, as it came with a statuette of - have mercy - a naked and very pregnant Alma. To quote a video by OutsideXbox, ‘Looks like someone had a fear of childbirth. And now I’ve got it.’.
