Summary; 1. Understand and reflect on the meaning of what you’re reciting. 2. Perform whudu in concentration and say dhikr before the salah, including the Adhan - so you disconnect from the duniya. a. Adhan introduces Allah (swt); introduces Prophet Muhammad (saw); instructs us to hurry to the salah; ends with Allah (swt). 3. Pray Sunnah / Nafl slowly before the Fard Salah. 4. Pray knowing that Allah (swt) is watching you. 5. Pray as if it’s your last salah. 6. Pray as if on The Day of Judgement, Allah (swt) granted you to return to Earth to perform a final Salah. 7. Imagine you are standing and praying in your grave. 8. Think and reflect on Allah (swt). 9. Close your eyes for a little while. 10. Slow down when you drift off / begin losing concentration. a. If something is stressing you, remember that Allah (swt) will relieve you from your stress. 11. Don’t burden yourself with long Salahs; gradually build up to long Salahs. 12. Pray as if your mind is in another world. 13. Pray with taranum / rhythm.

Alhamdullahi what helps me out with concentration is thinking this salaat is very short am standing before Allah swt and this is Allah's time and time for me to communicate and build up my relationship with my creator. If I don't put effort how will Allah recognize me in the here after. So let me build up my relationship with my creator slowly daily till my Iman is so strong.

1. Get the meaning of Salah. 2. Do Zikr before Salah to get your mind in the mode of thinking about Allah. 3. Break off from the dunya before Salah. 4. Think of Salah as your last Salah. 5. Imagine yourself standing on the Day of Judgment. 6. Think of yourself in your grave doing Salah. 7. Slow your Salah down whenever your mind drifts off. 8. Ask yourself who is the one that will get you out of negative thoughts. 9. Don't make Salah a burden for yourself, gradually increase the duration and difficulty. 10. Use a beautiful tune to get involved. 11. Aim for 100% devotion in every Salah. 12. Open your eyes while in Salah to maintain focus. 13. Think of Allah as watching you during Salah.

ANOTHER TIP/POINT: (and this helps BIG TIME) - everyyytime you say Allahu Akbar (اللهُ أَكبر) - Remember Linguistically, notably of you that dont know Arabic like that, because even natives often either forget this or dont know….But Allhu Akbar is TECHNICALLY: “Allah is GREATER” not exactly the Greatest though He is…. and think of the reason for that, its open ended for a beautiful reason …. BECAUSE HE IS “GREATER” than anything - *HENCE* anytime you have anything on your mind during salah, every time we say that just remeber that Allah is GREATER than ANY of that running through your mind….. its great for Khushoo

The Syeikh didnt say if you cant recite Quran, but he said if you dont understand the meaning of the surah you’re reciting, at least always remember that Allah is seeing you .. that way you will always be alert and your mind wont drift away in the shalat.. but of course gradually we have to learn the meanings so that we would increase khooshoo in our shalats..
