@MJAquascaping3 жыл бұрын
My apologies for being late 😂 But yeah very strange to see so little information about this.
@gokulkishor136911 ай бұрын
The best thing to do is regular water changes for the 1st month as the soil is rich in nutrients and it leads to creation of ammonia and nitrates which causes algae bloom, so when you do water change that is twice a week for 2 weeks and then once a week for the rest with 50% being the ratio for changing the water and also the main thing is to keep a best filter with some biological media and carbon media running 24/7 with light running 8hrs Max.

You are right on almost all the advice. As for fertilization. Let's not forget that we have to add potassium from day one. There is no potassium in the fsoil and in tap water. Plants need it. :) Nice video!

Great vid. Do you have a video or can you comment on when to introduce clean up crew? Assuming the tank is cycled, should you wait until you get algae? Or should they go in before any other fish even if the tank looks algae free?
@MJAquascaping3 жыл бұрын
I would add them as soon as possible, indeed assuming the tank is cycled. In the beginning you will always get some algae, so best to have them take care of it before it can grow any further. On a side note, otocinclus can be a bit sensitive in the beginning and I would not add them to a tank that is spotless and free of algae.

Does the photo period have to be consistent? I work day shifts sometimes and night shift other times, would the plants thrive with a similar photo period schedule? My light is touch activated and therefore wont work with a timer. Long term I'd like a light i can set up on a timer ideally but till then can my tank share a similar day night schedule?

Great video, as ever. I'm moving up from a 40l nano to one six times the size, and while there are lots of videos on how to set up a tank it's great to find a guide for the bedding in period where things are rapidly changing. It was certainly the most stressful period before, and a reminder on what to expect will really help. Thanks

what would you suggest for lighting duration/intensity for no filter tanks? The same as your suggestions in this video? Thanks
@MJAquascaping3 жыл бұрын
Just 8 hours! Intensity depends a little on the light you are using. But for sure not too strong. Also recommend using some floating plants.

Hello MJ, my water hardness is quit high and my plants don't grow. I don't use CO2 but I made sure to pick plants with low requirements so that it would still work but it doesn't. How can I optimize my plant growth without adding CO2?
@MJAquascaping3 жыл бұрын
What kind of plants did you pick?
@RyudoXy3 жыл бұрын
@@MJAquascaping Ceratophyllum demersum - didn't grow and lost all it's leafs. Cryptocoryne wendtii "Green" - I cut all of it's leafs before planting it, it has new leafs but some of them have holes. Rotala indica "Bonsai"- stagnant grwoth Limnophila hippuridoides - stagnant growth Bucephalandra motleyana "Dark blue" - growth is fine! Hygrophila 'Compact' - has holes in it's leaves and loses most of the leafs. Rotala rotundifolia 'Orange Juice - lost most of it's leafs but they might come back. I planted this plant relatively late so it might lose it's emersed leafs. I'm using easy life "pro fito" as fertilizer and I'm also using fertilizer balls which I've dug into the sand. I don't have soil, just regular sand from the company guemmer".
@MJAquascaping3 жыл бұрын
@@RyudoXy okay I see! My advice would be to add some nutrients to your substrate. Profito is not the best fertilizer, but for a no CO2 tank I guess it’s okay. Do you have a lot of fish? Because I believe profito is mostly micro nutrients and doesn’t have any phosphate. If you have a decent amount of fish they will provide the phosphate, if not you might need to start dosing more macro nutrients.
@RyudoXy3 жыл бұрын
@@MJAquascaping thank you for your advice, really appreciate it. The amount of fish seems fine I think. I will get a test kit for my water parameters and will then try to fix the error.

If you are only using easy plants and your light is not too intense, you don't really need CO2
@przemok77693 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I don't really know much about lights. It's 24W from SunSun and my tank is 60x30x30. I hope is not to intense. Is 4/27 lighting at the beginning enough?
