I'm from Kolkata , India and I love to watch your videos . In fact I have repeatedly watched most of them .Your presence , your humble attitude and the simple way of explaining aquascaping process takes your videos to another level . I have a 42"discus tank and have plans to make it planted in near future following your footsteps . Lots of love and respect to all of you . Forgot to mention that your tanks are simply awesome , miniature nature .

10:00 - generally, the pumps used in canister filters use a centrifugal action to move water, and centrifugal pumps are fine to run with a valve closed on the discharge line without causing problems. If you have a filter with an external pump, make sure you know what style of pump you're dealing with. In most cases, they will be centrifugal pumps as well, but if they aren't, you could create major problems by closing a valve on a pressurized discharge line.

@Brunnen_Gee
@Brunnen_Gee 3 жыл бұрын
A much easier solution than using vinegar is to use a flat razor. You can buy a cheap pack with a reusable plastic grip at any hardware store. Just rinse the blades with dish soap before use to remove the oil from them. I've been doing this for years and I've never scratched a tank. Honestly I don't really see how someone would, unless they were really gouging at it at an angle that wouldn't work for cleaning in the first place. Hold it at about a 30 to 40 degree angle from the glass and it'll take calcium buildup right off, no problem. No scrubbing, no need to use any kind of solution. Don't do it on acrylic though.

I only started watching videos about aquascaping for like 2 or 3 months, max. But after watching most of the videos in Green Aqua, i feel like im ready to start aquascaping myself without any major problem since i already got most of basic stuff regarding aquascaping in my head. Maybe should write them somewhere to make sure i always remember them. Its just that the cost to start here in my place are maybe a little bit more expensive than any other country. Dont worry, i already done quite enough research to get most of the stuff for slightly cheaper options and not neglecting the quality. Good job green aqua, lets bring more people to join our beautiful world of aquascaping community!

We are planning to do that very soon (the pond) but it keeps raining on the days we schedule the shoot, haha. The next try is tomorrow, and? Yeah, rain is predicted. Will see. Aquascaping inside is more reliable. Haha. Anyway, trim the big leaves of the crypt, and don't wait for it to become a big bush. Trim a couple of leaves randomly first, and see where it takes you.

Yes, it matters a lot. If your tap water has a low pH, you should use a GH/KH booster, not a GH booster alone. The brand does not really matter as long as it's an aquarium brand.

Nice comprehensive set of instructions. And you did a helpful thing by emphasizing that maintenance is something to plan carefully. One question on remineralizing your RO water. Do you add anything for carbonate hardness or buffering, or only general hardness salts?

For me if the maintenance needs more than an hour to do for one tank, rescape is the only way. I got another tank as water container, it has canister filter on it so the water is mature after 1 or 2 days tap water refill. Maintenance once in 4 days is great regime for me, algae rarely appeared and plants grows well. Great videos as always, good job.

I've been having problems with algae for ages now, and i'm trying a lot, I may try josh sims 30-40% every 2nd~ day water change that you guys suggested. thanks again for the amazing production quality! and as always, from Australia, have a great week, and see you next Thursday!
@GreenAquaShop

Thanks for the kind comment - as always. Yeah, maintenance is really important, hope you'll sort the problem out, but normally algae should not come from the 50% weekly water changes, your root cause is something else. I can try to help you if you list your full gear, water parameters that you know of (hardness too), temperature.

Thanks for another wonderful and informative video. I'm a huge fan of your chanel and I hope I can visit your beautiful shop one day. I have a question regarding the maintenance of Microsorum pteropus 'Trident'. Everyone says it's a beginner plant but it's almost the only plant I can not keep. My problem is that over time it gets only tiny leaves. Is it a fertilizer problem or is it trimming? It is kept under all the "right conditions" with CO2, lots of light and of course it is not planted in the bottom layer. My water is pretty hard but that should not bee a problem for Microsorum. I have searches everywhere on the web and youtube but I can not find a solution. Can you lovely Green Aqua guys please help me?
@GreenAquaShop
@GreenAquaShop 3 жыл бұрын
Strong light, and plenty of nutrients will make this a small plant. Which is cool, it gives scale to the tank. You could use bigger plants if you need mass. Like regular microsorum.

It's a very detailed video, not doubt of being useful because covers many aspects of the maintenance. However, as a new beginner to this hobby, I think it is a bit overwhelming. Not everybody have the same dedication or time to be that precise about aquarium maintenance. I would not call this a tutorial for beginners, but more a maintenace guide for new aquascapers. For those people setting up their first aquarium with some plants I would personally prefer a more simple tutorial with the basics to keep fish healthy and a good looking aquarium. Perhaps with some key tips of how to plan your set up from the beginning in accordance with the time you can dedicate to its maintenance (i.e. type of plants that require less trimming or slow growth, type of fish or filtration system). Another point is that people new to the hobby would not probably install CO2 or large filtration systems, as they may start with smaller aquariums. But overall, very interesting content.
