Omg, i am SO happy about Suikoden being remastered ! I heard people talk about it being of the greatest JPRG's but when I looked for the game online, the price was INSANELY high ! Looking forward to Bloomtown as well, looks super cute ! Thanks for making the video

It's a shame about Dragon Quest. It's one of the biggest series in Japan, alongside with FF, so I was initially excited to give the remaster a go to try it out for the first time. However after hearing about the censoring, I immediately lost all interest in it. IMO censoring is not excusable and is outright deplorable

The art style looks nice but I'm not excited about a tactical metal slug game. Seems like they are kind of ruining metal slug with that. I'll probably go through the five stages of grief and then finally accept it as a real game.

Every time you mention a game has turn based combat, it sounds like your cringing and apologetic at the through....I must apologize in advance because its rant time :) Turn based RPGs and tactical turn based RPGs are often preferred by a lot of players. Sure, most of them don't go mainstream, but they have huge fanbases nonetheless (Which is why developers have been making them since the 80s and keep on creating them).There are even many fans who won't even play an RPG unless its classic turn based in style. This "myth" that turn based games are a "problem to be solved" instead of what it is, a preferred feature for people, has led to some in large corporations getting a bad perspective and swapping their genres to try and appeal to mainstream markets. Final Fantasy, Phantasy Star, Shining Force, and even Valkyrie Profile made this mistake, and the games flopped for the most part (Except FF7 remake, and ONLY because its got massive nostalgia attached to the IP. If those were just new characters and a new game, it would have come and gone with no fanfare). This is because people buy these games BECAUSE of what they are, not in spite of it. A fire emblem fan wants a traditional fire emblem game.....Shining Force fans wanted the classic shining force format....ect....And ONLY RPGs get a pass on these genre-swaps. Who would want to buy a GTA only to get it home, pop it in, and find its become a tetris like puzzle game? Same thing here. Turn based games allow a deeper connection between players and parties of characters than a real time set up can EVER provide. The closest thing is the ATB and that's as far as it should go. Instead of swapping genre's, I prefer what Atlus is doing, in evolving and expanding the genre instead of taking the cheap way out and just changing it to the same zelda-like action rpg that are a dime a dozen already. And because Atlus sticks to its traditional styles, they have booted Square right off the JRPG throne. Variety is, after all, the spice of life. And without turn based jrpgs, the scene would get stale and bland very quickly.
@Reisigo3 ай бұрын
@@MidnightBlackandVictoria I honestly don’t mean to come off that way. I actually really love turn based JRPG’s. Things like early final fantasy’s, octopath among other things. I guess I didn’t realize that I came off that way. I’d agree with the statement that atlus is changing the game, it’s both turn based and quick so I think it brings more people into the genre. Thank you for the insight though. I’ll have to listen back and see if I came off cringing at the idea. Really the only JRPG’s that I have any issue getting into are tactical ones, it’s something about the grid that makes me lose interest in the combat. Idk maybe I just haven’t played the right ones. I appreciate the comment though and I’ll work on getting my true emotions through in these videos.

@@Reisigo LOL I was being a bit hyperbole. I used to catch myself doing the exact same thing till I thought it through and realized I was being misled into thinking there was something wrong with turn based gameplay. Because we are CONSTANTLY barraged with (usually non-fans) with these points (As well as how I have come to counter them). And even for hardcore rpg fans like you and me and those here, these can wear down our psyche when we hear them enough. And when devs start believing them, then there are problems (See- Valkyrie Elisium) "Its too slow (Yeah, its slow. Its like chess, your supposed to take your time and enjoy the experience not rush things although some do and there isnt anything wrong with that either) Its all the same (Uh, no they arent....And those who say this just prove they know next to nothing about the genre) Its too easy (Some are. But some of my favorites, like Mordhiem city of the Damned or SMT are tougher than most action titles) My FAVORITES are- Theres too much story (That one always makes me laugh) They are too long (Are we such consumers that we are in a huge rush to get to "next thing" instead of enjoying the ride)? And the one that cracks me up the MOST is the combination of "They are too easy and there is too much grinding" said in the same breath.... Talk about lack of self awareness HAHA! Your fine man. I subbed earlier because you have a great take on things. I have just been on a crusade to defend the genre I have loved for so long, and when I see an excuse to do so, I take it!
@Reisigo3 ай бұрын
@@MidnightBlackandVictoria I appreciate the sub. I agree with you though. I think a lot of people love to hate the genre just cuz it’s not the normal mainstream games usually. Yes there are games in the genre that don’t do story telling well but I want the most I can get, tell me why I should care about the characters, show me growth over time and build the world. I love when a game can give you all this. It’s good to have someone like you to defend the genre.
