I could imagine that is was in Germany the Ford Taunus 20m TS, the 2-door coupe variant with a 2 liter V6 engine. The car of my childhood, white body and red interior. In that time that was really upper middle class. Damit brauchteste keinem hinkerten Frosch aus dem Wege zu gehen (With that you did not have stay away from a limping frog - german understatement phrase)

This text is written as if the author is a Tesla Cybertruck fan, prime purpose of a car is to look cool (to make you cool), to have performance so that you can show off, the rest is uninmportant. The first cars (without the Pontiac Tempest) are all meant to be a practical means of transportation for a family or a workshop. Styling is tertiary at best. And the step that is folding out when you open the sliding door of the Ford van is outright cool - and practical.

In 1963, I followed one Ford Taunus with my bicycle. The German, seeing that I was interested, showed me the inside of the car and its engine (1700 ccm and 85 HP). It was very comfortable inside and still is today.

The Daf 33 is called square. It had wings, for crying out loud! The Moscovitch was absolutely NOT a car for the masses. They were more for people who worked for the government ( waiting list of between 7 and 10 years IF people could even afford them! ).
@wietseterpstra829525 күн бұрын
The DAF 33 was one of the few affordable and small automatic cars available at the time, it was the first car with a CVT transmission, mostly driven by older and people like my uncle who lost his left leg, it was never intended to be fast but in acceleration the first meters it would beat almost every big and powerfull car these things were quick of the spot, but the topspeed was low, i driven a DAF/VOLVO 55 marathon for a while it had a topspeed of 140km/h had a lot of fun in it untill i blew the engine.

Please stay to Facts! The Ford P3 was replaced by the Ford P5! The P4 was the other Model in a lower Class, with V4 Engine and Front Wheel Drive, the P4 was later replaced by the P6. The P5 was later replaced by the P7, and the P7 was updated to the P7a one Year later. The P3 Had Inline 4 Engines, the P5 and P7 were available with V4 and V6 Engine.

the A40 Farina is silly? Sales, profits, popularity ratings ?
@TheAndy1268Ай бұрын
What an obnoxiously biased viewpoint you have. You completely ignore the fact, that after WW2 European (especially German) car manufacturers basically had to start from scratch, and so had their customers. Small cars with low power engines were a necessity for both parties, not a choice. 1) In only four years Ford Köln (Cologne, Germany) sold 670,000 Taunus P3/17M in Germany, Greece and South Africa, which was a HUGE success. Yes, it looked different, but it was very popular, incredibly practical, reliable, and economical. It wasn't "silly" at all and does NOT belong on this list. 2) The NSU Prinz was a very charming, cheap and popular small car. 570,000 were sold. I wouldn't call that "silly" either. Besides, most of the footage shown here, is from the Simca, not the NSU. 3) The Renault 4 singlehandedly SAVED Renault from bankruptcy. Adding it to a list of "silly" cars is outright ignorant. It sold EIGHT MILLION units over a production run of well over thirty years.

The Tanuas may be a little strange in the front end the side profile is pretty pleasing given the era.

The bathtub name comes from the recessed oval headlights, not from the body shape. My father had the good-looking brother, a Ford Taunus 20m TS 2liter V6 90 hp, 2 door "Coupe". In white with red interior. The car of my childhood. My father was quite proud of it.

It seems like you have mist something: Those small economic cars were loved all over europe. Many of them were alternatives to VW - Beetle. The NSU Prinz 4 L was a lot better car than what you say. The engine produced 36 hp on two cylinders and a topspeed around 100 km/t enough to most european people.

I enjoy seeing all these classic cars , but the narration is way off reality for most of these cars and is annoying to hear. Many of these cars were the ones filling the roads and streets at this time in history. Luxury cars were few and far between in the 1950-60-70- in most countries. Luxury cars were not more reliable, rather the opposite, only more expensive to buy and maintain. The car company Borgward was tricked into bankruptcy. It should never have occurred. Borgward had a cash flow crisis due to very high expenses in making the new P100 model. MB took over their big car factory on Bremen and it became MB's largest car factory in Germany.
