@paulcarr59184 жыл бұрын
It's actually done to keep the homeless from camping on them. They also have people to shoo them off the walkways over the streets. Just head in and plonk down at a set at an empty slot machine and rest if you can't handle whatever hike you set off on. No one actually forces you to play them. Or on one of the many short walls or rails that run along some of them. Or inside the shop areas of places like Ceasar's, Planet Hollywood, etc, that are accesable straight from the strip and do have benches...and again no one forces you to shop once inside.

Ok, I work on the Strip so I would like to explain some things. The hotel/casinos are gouging people now, I will admit that, but I want to explain why. (And I'm not in favor of or against any of this, I'm simply explaining) 1. Vegas is totally corporatized now. As with any corporation, bottom line is all that matters. Always remember this. 2. The reason many tourists, like you, complain about the Vegas of today is because you remember a time when Vegas wasn't like this. Once upon a time, you parked for free, there were no resort fees, food was all cheap, and most of your "vacation money" went towards gaming or shows. There are a couple reasons this has changed. - Most major cities in the U.S. that have tourism (L.A., New York, Chicago, Miami, Honolulu, etc etc) have been charging parking and resort fees for a long time. The corporations of Vegas saw this but stayed away from it for a long time. However, they have recently jumped on the bandwagon with these fees because they said to themselves, "We're a major tourist destination just like those other cities, so we have the right to charge for the same things they are." - The 2nd and more vital reason is because the tourist dynamic in Vegas has changed and Vegas is changing with it. The Vegas of yesteryear was cheap with rooms, food, and parking because everything was subsidized by the gaming revenue. They made so much money from gaming, that they could afford to make very little from everything else. They would comp people rooms, food, transportation, or whatever, just to get them in the door because they could count on the tourists to gamble. This is not happening anymore. You need to remember, the prime demographic that all corporations covet is the young crowd, and the young people of today are not nearly as interested in gambling as the older generations were. Young people coming to town now are more interested in the food scene (celebrity restaurants), nightclubs, and drinking. Even the older crowd is not gambling as much as before. Without the gaming revenue, Vegas can no longer afford to make everything else cheap the way it used to be. I just read where July 2018, the airport here saw record numbers of tourists come through, but if you look at other articles, the corporations are reporting gaming revenue is down across the board in their quarterly earnings reports. 3. There are now casinos ALL OVER AMERICA, and many people don't need to travel to Vegas anymore to get their gambling fix. This has also greatly impacted Vegas's bottom line. This is why Vegas has changed. This is a reactionary town. They transform with the trends they see happening around them, rather than starting a trend. Hope this helps clear it up for you.

TRIPxCORE -- good points.. I live here too. NV pulled in more tax revenue that any other state ... 425,000,000... taxes on that are some 71 million. Supposedly going for education.. we have yet to see that happen.. so as far as the Casinos looking out for us or you? Excuse me, corporations?? You’re shit out of luck. They will Continue to gouge us, or them (tourists). Good points though.. but always remember, corporations don’t care about you, and vote blue in Nov.
@pablocruise6786 жыл бұрын
TRIPxCORE - that was marijuana Tax revenue ..
@VegasLoungeAct6 жыл бұрын
But marijuana tax revenue goes to the government. The casinos don't see any direct revenue from that. They might only see ancillary revenue from tourists coming to Vegas specifically for the marijuana that happen to stop in a casino or hotel and spend money.

Not another dime from me. Video poker in the small Nevada towns like Pahrump is far more lively and better payouts than Vegas. $20 max bet in a quarter machine and the drinks are comp'd. Don't see that in Vegas anymore.

What you said about the Times Share ppl is 100% true. My wife and I were in Vegas for my birthday (1/21), and we literally wasted 6-7 hours to listen to a “too good to be true” presentation. My husband and I went to Vegas in Feb. (2019). We had several people trying to stop us while just passing through the casinos. And, as the guy said in the video, that is exactly the things they asked as we walked by (like where we were from, how long we were going to be there, and also asked if we were wanting to or planning to see any shows). We didn't know what it was for or what the catch was, so after a while, we were curious and finally stopped to see what it was all about. Well, the guy we talked to was pretty straight forward and told us about the time share and how exactly it would work and what to expect and what was actually required of us to get the free stuff offered, which was 2 tickets to a show of our choice, $50 for either gambling or a $50 voucher to eat at a restaurant from a list they gave us (we chose to eat-LOL) and we also got a free 3 night stay at a hotel for the future to go back to Vegas. He said we were required to listen to them for only 2 hours to get the free offers and we could even set a timer to stop them after 2 hours to let them know our time was up and could leave and get our stuff, if we needed to stop them. He said they know a lot of people come in just for the free stuff and know that we only have to be there for 2 hours, so they should be good on that and they were. The man that we were with after the presentation thing at the beginning let us know that he was watching the 2 hour time and knew how long he had left with us before the 2 hours was up. He did stop after 2 hours and we declined and were done and led out to the front where I think he told them to get our info. to give us our free tickets and vouchers. We did end up having to wait around a little longer than we wanted to for our transportation back out of there to Planet Hollywood (where we were staying). It maybe took up about 3 hours all together, but it was fine with us for what we got out of it. We really enjoyed the show and saved alot of money (to us) for that and also saved $50 on a buffet after the show that was also great. And, we still have the 3 night stay for later. So, in the end we were pleased with it. Only regret it was on the morning of our last full day there and the fact we had to get up earlier than we wanted to after staying out late the night before.
@shaundelorezrm34904 жыл бұрын
@@wa1721 If you know what you're getting into, the Timeshare thing can be an advantage. When we lived within driving distance of Vegas, we attended our first TS presentation. They covered the cost of our hotel for 2 nights, we had the voucher for a show, and it cost us 4 hours. I'll sit in a presentation for 4 hours during the day in exchange for lodging and some entertainment supplement. But it got better. Coming back from the presentation, another TS "recruiter" stopped us with the same routine. We told them we *just* did the presentation and they ask "do you want to do it again?" That was all it took for us to see this as an opportunity. We attended the TS presentation a total of 4 times. Each time, we had 2-3 nights in the Luxor (our wedding hotel, so we always chose that one), 2 times a free lunch buffet, and vouchers with a small return on deposit (casino chips or show tix). By the 3d or 4th presentation, we got used to the pitch. I started giving them the answers to questions I knew they were going to ask. I even told one salesman it was our 3d presentation and we didn't plan on buying. He said "ok. well we have 2 hours to kill. Know any jokes?" TS presentations aren't all bad. You just have to know what you're signing up for and compare the value.

And if not, what if I'm not using those extra amenities, why am I being billed for stuff I don't use? That's like charging someone 50 bucks a night for long distance phones calls even if you didn't make a single call from your room, but the fee is "because we offer the service in case you need to use it". Having been a Vegas regular for 10+ years (about 30 or more trips) I consider 1/2 of these to be common sense. Don't talk to ANYONE on the strip if you can avoid it. Anything they are selling can be found cheaper someplace else. Also - if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. That's common sense. I will say that the "resort fees" are a problem that has kept me from returning to Vegas. Mine were usually comped, I couldn't stand being charged for something that was included a few years ago. (Like airline baggage fees!!) Despite what "safety man" says - ALL gambling can be addictive - slot machines, craps, Baccarat, etc. Your brain cannot differentiate the dopamine released from winning on a slot machine or at a table. The one thing that makes Vegas different from other resort destinations is the loyalty perks. After about 2-3 trips to Vegas, while gambling and using a casino properties' loyalty card, you can expect to see SOME perks. We added up the money that we usually spent on food and entertainment, put that money into a slot machine over the course of 2-3 nights and upon check out - much of our food, beverage and entertainment were comped. It IS more complicated than I'm describing here - but you don't have to be a "high roller" to get comps in Vegas. (Yes - off-Strip and downtown are certainly better bargains. But not for those of us who love the strip.)

I’ve been to Vegas over a dozen times in my life (hell I was just there a couple weeks ago). Everything said here is very true, and the safety guy knows exactly what’s up. Vegas is a mirror, of our side that lets everything go wild. It’s a crazy, eclectic adult mix of rich with good taste and gaudy with bad taste. We have some of the worlds finest chefs in the world and we have your basic ‘hole in the wall’ joints- it’s up to you what you want to spend and experience here. We have something for everyone here as we don’t discriminate against anyone for any reason. We welcome all that come here and ready to play in the worlds largest and strangest electric playground for adults - open 24/7! With that being said, yes, you will find the whole spectrum of colorful people here along with an array of people trying to make money in different ways. They gave me a free weekend in Las Vegas for hearing their entire pitch, yet the girl who was my sales rep was not very caring. Nor were the closing staff. I did not buy JACK from them! The best thing I got out of the seminar was finding out how timeshares work. And it's simple. Yes resort fee is BAD BAD idea! You can’t get away from resort fee. We tried believe me we tried and failed. Luxor in April 2018 it was 200 bucks added resort fee and our room was 99 a night. Oh we did the New York coaster shit. I need to watch your videos next time before we go ha ha.

$200 added resort fees?! Either you stayed 7+ nights or you're just lying. Either one was a mistake.
@tararockrevivalbebe64276 жыл бұрын
firebirdude2 Nooo it was 200 dollars for the week. Which was 40 dollars a day. We stayed 5 days. I wrote April so let me clarify we went Easter week which was spring break week first week of April. Wish I was lying. Why would I lie what the world. Maybe I put that payment on your Discover bill but I remember it being on my name.

I used a special rate code I got from a poker vlogger to stay at the Westgate a few months ago. It was $50/night total on weeknights. They still charged the usual resort fee, but since the room rate was like $15 it felt normal.

I'm 34, been going to Vegas since 19. I soon became hip to a lot of things so I use it to my advantage. If I'm staying in Vegas for a full week, we will dedicate one day to timeshares. Might do 2 or 3. A few hours each equals a lot of free stuff. The major issue is when you say no, they actually drop the price significantly and that always have me wondering "should I" lol. My girl reminds me that wasn't the plan and we leave. I never paid for a club because I get the free passes from the people on the strip. Gamble a few hundred in a slot and then you will receive free rooms for years. For example: I gambled 300 dollars at Fiesta 5 years ago. I still have comp rooms there and haven't played since. I use them all the time. Before Westgate started charging resort fees, I would stay there 20 nights a year, all comp. But I do gamble there a lot. You just have to give a little to get something back. Be good to Vegas and they will be good to you. Not the slots or the tables though. Those are a money pit. I gamble for comps not to win

Thank u bro, for giving us alittle insight into the various Las Vegas cons!

I just got back from Vegas and I agree with you about some of the rip offs. When I go to Vegas I pretty much get things comp, Free rooms, free shows and free food. But if you don't gamble as much as I do then yes you will be paying all the extra fees and such. Thanks for the video fun to know such new stuff. Thanks

You're paying the "extra fees" as well...by way of the gambling losses

I don’t necessarily agree with your celebrity chef trap. My son is a huge fan of the Hells Kitchen series and when they opened the restaurant he was dying to go. While the food was incredible, you honestly paid for the experience.

Interesting you like Ramsay's place. I had the opposite experience. The food was no better than a 'greasy spoon' and so outrageously expensive.

If you've ever attended a time-share presentation, you know how the police get people to sign confessions.

Gordon Ramsey burger joint in PH totally worth it. If you are dumb enough to play 3 card monte or shell game on the strip when there are regulated and legal gambling games literally everywhere you deserve to get conned.

is it REALLY worth it? REALLY REALLY worth it? he's a great chef but i really do not trust the british when it comes to THE american dish of all dishes.... the british act and cook american things a lot better than americans (cough The Wire) but i'm yet to witness a burger....

@@gotacallfromvishal yea I gotta tell ya man the burgers are very very good, and if memory serves me not that ridiculouslypriced, more importantly, he has something called gooey fries that are friggin life changing. I'm 350lbs if I tell you food is good you take it to the bank lol

All good tips. As somebody who's been there at least a dozen times, I've discovered all of these things. Unfortunately, there's no way to get around the resort fees. If you stay off Strip, the money you spent on taxicabs or Uber tend to be a lot more than just sucking it up and paying them. You pay for convenience, walking distance to everything.

Should have added free drinks when gambling to your list. The waitresses take your drink order then make you wait 20 minutes. So you sit at your table or machine waiting on your drink. In 20 minutes you cand spend a ton of money that your normally wouldn't have.

Lol idk about you dude but every time I go I see a billion fucking people all over the place and guess what they’re doing..? Ordering drinks. Those girls hustle. That 20 minute wait, they brought the other 30 people asked before you. 70% of the time the girl is stopped and asked for a drink. Hey, Vegas is amazing place. No other place like it. I live a hour and 45 minutes from Atlantic City and and hour from Mohegan sun and Foxwoods. All three I love but they don’t compare to Vegas. Just something about Vegas and being there is amazing.

They come fast as hell when you tip them 1$ chip every time at the table games. If you are are playing electronic then you are a fool to begin with.

That’s a false claim my dude. Just because it happened to you 1 time doesn’t mean they do that at every casino. those girls work off tips so they’re trying there hustling. your cheap ass probably didn’t give any tip money so she didn’t want back

Buffets over $40 is a huge rip. I stay at hotels away from the strip and save a ton of money. I like hanging out downtown.
