BDH is an awesome little engine. My neighbor just sold a brand new, virgin, never-ran BDH that has been sitting around in pieces for 20+ years. All parts new and engine complete with slide throttles and dry sump. The BDH's he prepared before and tested on his Superflow 901 dyno a great BDH would make 200hp and rev to 10,000rpm.

YOU DONT WANT AN ENGINE TO REV SO MUCH
@warwickstingray6 жыл бұрын
Revs are fine if the piston speed is at acceptable levels.

😁 180 perhaps.200 for a 1300 would be a max limit.

You didn't obviously read the test printout at 1.15, it sure don't show 200bhp.If you think those things produce that power then ok.

Yet another awesome HT engine!!

@SiMoNsKy22 yes, 1300 xflow block, BDA heads go right on, supposedly, Burtons Ford do them, if you have a deep pocket.

HEADS ARE CHEAP

@@Limou551 they are the most expensive part of the engine.

For an engine that revs to 10,000rpm I'm surprised the exhaust primaries are as long as they are.

Lovely sounding thing but seems quite low on power..

ITS A 1300 CC , YOU WANT 800 HP FROM A 1300 ENGINE?
@roberttaylor60755 жыл бұрын
My thoughts excactly.
@brucelamberton88192 жыл бұрын
It looks to be making around 150hp so if that is gross then it is down 35-50hp of what is is capable of producing

I have a 1500cc GT Kent pre crossflow. Steel crank and rods , Accralite pistons, A6 cam, Vulcan big valve head , steel rocker posts, twin 45 side draught Dellortos. Fully balanced and blueprinted, 180hp @ 8000rpm

@CRF250RGUY did they use this engine with a turbo in zakspeed capris etc?
@Limou5516 жыл бұрын
THAS A STUPID QUESTION
@theslimrealshady5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Zakspeed engine was BDA based, 1400cc mechanically injected engine, huge turbo and twin intercoolers.

Something not right right here. If someone fisher can get 150hp out of a 1300 crashflow with a 8v head this should trounce it.
@tpvalley9 жыл бұрын
triptechable yes, u can get 200bhp out of a 1300 bdh I think.
@FirstOnRaceDayCapri29049 жыл бұрын
+tpvalley 200 Hp is only possible from a race spec 1700 or 1800 , most you will get from a 1300 xflow is around 140 or 150 Hp
@triptechable9 жыл бұрын
+tpvalley I'm pretty sure its not the case. It would have to rev to around 12,000rpm for that. A 1300 hyabusa makes mega power because it can rev so high. All kent block based engines cant rev safely over 9500rpm because of a design fault. Its why Ford and Cosworth went v6 in the 80s and not 4 cyclinder turbo to rival bmw. If anyone could do it, cosworth would. but they couldnt.

+tpvalley If it was running a rich 13.5:1 AFR and VE was a perfect 110% and peak power produced at 9500 a 80/64.5mm bore/stroke would produce 190.6bhp on race fuel. Now the alleged output of the BDH in 1973 I think was 190hp. with a modern high preasure fuel injection system, ecu, mega strong rods, ultra high octane fuel 200bhp+ would be possible. would ahve to be running pretty damn rich though. oo 200bhp is theoretically possible, but in reality it wouldn't be cost effective or fuel efficient enough to be a race engine. In-fact if you wanted to keep the same rev limit and run it on nitro-methane (top fuel dragster) you would need to flow 64 litres of fuel per second and thatll only make 640hp.

@@triptechable Cosworth were always associated with ford ever since Costin and Duckworth designed the lotus Cortina.They also designed the F1 DFV engine.The only reason 'they went v6' was because of the Dagenham produced engine which was produced in 2.5 and more common 3.0 V6 capacities.
