The 134th running of the Kentucky Derby. Big Brown placed first, Eight Belles (RIP) took second, and Denis of Cork was third.

Eight Belles was stellar. I just got back from a trip to visit her gravesite at Churchill Downs. Big Brown was so elite and should have won the triple crown.

I have had to watch this and restart it multiple times, and focus on Big Brown's colors, and when Tom says there goes Big Brown, that horse took 2 or 3 strides and made up 1 horse length. It is nuts how quick he was but over all not even the fastest track times. Just insane ability to switch into gear

That was the fastest Derbies ever with ground covered factored in from the 20 post per the Sheets guys. And ,most forget how good Eight Belles ran in this race, she beat the rest of the boys convincingly....RIP.

Big Brown was a very good horse but easily could be called King of the Dipsticks. Pretty bad 3 year old crop that year. His real "pure racing" moment came on the grass beating older horses, IMO. I'd rate quite a few other 3 year olds ahead of him. Shame he had such a short career though.

Impressive acceleration at the top of the stretch. This race went from contested to over in 2 seconds. His win at the Preakness was even more impressive.

Almost every single racehorse is on steroids. They are anti-inflammatory steroids, not performance boosting ones. Obviously, you don't know anything about medicine used on the horses, or horse racing in general.

Who are you talking to?? And obviously! It's a business at the end of the day.
@ivanboesky15202 жыл бұрын
Obviously you do not know what you are babbling about. Big Brown was as doped a horse as you’d ever want to see. He was most certainly on performance boosting steroids and respiratory performance enhancers as well. His trainer Dutrow was easily one of the 5 biggest doping trainer cheats in modern history. NONE of his horses were clean. NONE! And it’s interesting that as soon as the TC moved to NY were anabolic steroids were tested for and banned suddenly Big Brown laid a big dud in the Belmont.

With the exception of Big Brown, this was easily one of the crappiest 3 year old crops in my 45 year history of following racing. Further tells you how difficult it is to win a Triple Crown despite that.

Those whom said they shouldnt have raced her against the boys must not have seen the race and I remember betting her and people laughed I know the women were betting her obv being the girl in the race but if not for Big Brown She laid waste to the other boys in that field and the freakish injury had zilch to do with being a female it happens and its sad but there are fillys who can beat the boys. Only seen 1 writer make it known that she kicked all but Big Browns ass as most just wanted to pile on ownership and her trainer.
