Patrick that was wonderful,it had everything,what a great start to the day,its gone in to the top five favourites,I loved your little talk to camera along the canal about people saying hello,and have always thought the same,these little seemingly spontaneous pieces to camera are just a small part of what makes your films so special,these 20 minute tonics ought to be on national tv to lift peoples moods during these difficult times,what a fabulous walk I must do it some time,I wanted the music to carry on just before you spoke of the couple you had spoken to,it was lovely,I'v always wanted to visit the Crich Tram museum (since the John Shuttleworth song) but had no idea the area around it was so gorgeous,the Crich stand with the benches around it was stunning,thanks again for sharing and putting all the effort in to making these,we love them. Pete.

I think after passing those two women walking their dogs beside the canal, who were just completely determined not to catch my eye, it inspired me to make that little talk. I was surprised to be able to walk inside the Tramway Village as the gates are normally locked, but I suppose they didn't consider it a problem as it was closed at the time and no trams were on display. Crich Stand is a pretty awesome spot isn't it. very windy on the day I was here filming it. As always Pete many thanks for all your kind comments and for watching 👍

My grandad was in the Sherwood Foresters in WW1. I know he used to go to Crich as he was one of the old timers. He was also in the Home Guard during WW2. He was in France from early 1915 until July 1916. I will have to go to Crich myself sometime. I wish now I had gone with him.

Love your video's, especially the Lumsdale episode, having being born in Matlock in 1960 and growing up there, I spent many hours walking in the area, I have a poster size photo of the lower pond which I took in the early 80's, The Holloway one is also very interesting as you mention the village shop "Mayfield Stores" which my Family owned and I ran between 1986 and 1989, a beautiful village, keep up the good work, Steven.

One of your best walks for a while Patrick. That Shrew kicking it off was great. A bit of a mascot! Well, you certainly nosed about on this one. The countryside was awesome walked by many by the looks of them steps that were well worn down. I noticed a lot of former pubs - former being the word. Sign of the times! Well, I could go on but all I 'll say is thanks for sharing. Enjoyed the memorial and Crich. All the best up there. Mark
@solitaryrambler4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, glad you thought it was a particularly good walk. Yes I just had to get a shot of that shrew, my mascot for the day 😄 I was walking in one of the less touristy and less protected areas of Derbyshire, so I guess those steps don't get checked too often, so yes they were certainly very well worn. I always find it a shame when so many pubs have closed. Thankfully, what was the Derwent Arms at Whatstandwell has now been utilised as a popular cafe and restaurant, so that's good. Glad you enjoyed Crich and the memorial, I always thought was a pretty awesome spot. Well as always Mark, thanks for joining me again on this. All the best to you too and stay safe. Cheers, Patrick 👍

Saw a water vole in that canal years ago when its numbers began to become very scare. Those that walk along the canal path, keep a watchful eye out and you might be lucky to catch a glimpse of this very rare animal. Robin Maycock the butcher is also is worth a call in on the way home for your supper, because he sells some excellent local meat and produce.

Another thumbs up from me. I`d heard of the village but not Crich Stand Memorial, great that you can reach the top for those views, looks like a visit on the cards. By the way, re: `Sherwood Foresters` I wrote an account in one of my books on a Spitfire with that name that crashed on the Isle of Skye. ATB Dave.

How true about the way passing walkers say 'hello'. We'v noticed the same thing even more so during recent times. Lovely harmonising between bass, guitar, trumpet?even flute and violins in your music, and such a pleasure to listen to. Wonder have you released any of your music to the public?
@solitaryrambler4 жыл бұрын
Once again my thanks to you Shanita. I've never released any of my music to the public, although I have sent a few music files before now to different bodies in the hope that someone may take an interest, but have never had any responses unfortunately. I am happy to create music for my own pleasure and being able to share that in my films. Thanks again 👍
