A buddy toured with Tom Jones. He had multiple horn cases in one road box, and they were sliding around in the road box a bit. Needed padding. So he gathered panties thrown onstage for a week or do, laundered them (!), and used them as padding in the case for years! 🤣

Hi Leland , That’s so nicely organised! One of the things I’ve often wondered…How much gear do folks take on tour? Think I mentioned ,I had been in Antalya,Turkey for a week getting my implants…so ,packing for a trip these days is abit more challenging ,as I take a lot of supplements and make my own smoothie….mostly because being toothless ,it’s hard to eat properly….HA! And dental surgery leaves one’s mouth very sore,with stitches …especially mine was quite extensive ….now home,but,still healing,and very painful….antibiotics and pain meds….I must return in 4 months to actually get the teeth….But,I was glad I’d planed ahead…and taken my bullet blender,for nuts, flax,berries,fruit,amino acids,and protéine ……most folks don’t realise when y’a have no teeth…what can one eat?…On a good note…It’s so affordable!!!!! And the clinic put me up in a great hotel..right on the beach…all included…..No way id be able to do it in the states££££….Flight from London Rt also very reasonable…. And everyone so friendly…very professional.I’m so relieved and thankful…😊…..I’ll even bet that one could fly from the US….and have it done cheaper….a lot less…. Anyway,Thanks for showing your travel gear…so compact and well thought out!!! Love to all 🌹🪷🌹🪷🌹🪷🥰🪬🤗🖕🖕🖕🖕👍🎶🎵🌷

@Chef James Rusk Wow James, that is quite a story. I hope your healing goes well and I bet you're stoked to be able to eat properly. That's ability is a huge part of being a chef ( taste everything) and is taken for granted. Until you lose it.

As an engineer, I approve of this simple yet functional tour rig, although I was expecting to see a fretless in there somewhere too. Nothing worse (From an engineers perspective) when an overly complicated tour rig causes problems and delays, as they so often do. It's very very clear that your roots are in session playing, where there is no time for nonsense 🤡. It's also clear that anyone with such a simple rig is not hiding behind crutches... Cracking stuff Leland 👍

From Woody Guthrie to Robert Johnson many of the greats have been peddle-less 😉
@goodun2974
@goodun2974 Жыл бұрын
@@artemisXsidecross , true; less is sometimes more, and generally I prefer people who use minimal effects (straight from the guitar into the amp is great, for those who can pull it off, Tab Benoit being an example), but for solo performers who rely on the backline PA in clubs or at large festivals, bringing a big amp and cabinet might not be physically or economically feasible/sensible, and so they'll bring just their instrument and a "get out of trouble" pedalboard. Bassist Doug Wimbush flies to festival gigs with a bass and a pedalboard that can both fit into the overhead compartment, so there's no need to check them in as cargo. If you're touring with a performer or band that has some decent financial backing, like Lyle Lovett, Phil Collins etc., that's another story.
@goodun2974

Being a small bar gigging bass player for over 25 years I appreciate the simplicity. Thanks for taking the time. I had a phase where I went way overboard with the gear I would bring to a show.. Nowadays, I can wheel my entire bass rig in on a 2 wheel dolly and a backpack. End of the show I break down the gear onto my dolly, collect my money and off I go! The technology has allowed for some massive sound to come from some smaller amps. I use this Aguilar the Mark bass 2 10's and for any club its almost too much, but sounds so good and is bulletproof.

First and foremost: Is have a great tour with Lyle and stay safe. Secondly: Happy to hear there is a lot of support for the documentary. A lot of work has gone into this video and you've been plugging it for months. I hope they add a third showing. Nothing like getting reviews from as many people as possible. Reduces the effect by idiots who zero credentials as a reviewer or what the people actually like. Lastly, I think its cool that you have gone over your gear, but then, who would think you have been flipped off so many times. Remember to us you're very special.
