I'm at my N4 intermediate Japanese level, but it's really hard to study by myself. However, I decided to study Japanese again when I saw your channel. It's really easy to understand, and I also joined the membership! 🎉.

Hello Masa-Sensei, I hope you are doing well! 😊 My attempts: 1. 私の目標は日本語の会話ができるばかりでなく、日本人の友達をも作ります。 My goal is not only to be able to have conversations in Japanese, but also to make Japanese friends. 2. ごみを出さなければならない、お皿も洗います。 I must not only take out the trash, but also wash the dishes. (In this case I guess ばかりでなく isn't needed?)

1. 私の目標は日本語の会話ができるようになるばかりでなく、日本人の友達をも作ることです。 My goal is not only to be able to have conversations in Japanese, but also to make Japanese friends. become to be able is "Potential+ようになる" and because this sentence's structure is "My goal is..." the last part needs to be a noun phrase. It becomes 作ることです 2. ごみを出さなければならないばかりでなく、お皿も洗わなければなりません。 I must not only take out the trash, but also wash the dishes. (In this case I guess ばかりでなく isn't needed?) you can simply put ばかりでなく you also have to chage the last part to なければなりません because it is "I must also wash the dishes"

Hello Masa Sensei, なAdjである + ばかりでなく~も, why we need to add dearu after NA-Adj?
@MasaSensei2 жыл бұрын
Actually you can also drop "である" it is correct to say なAdj + ばかりでなく~も as well!

「きれいなのはもちろん」ですね? きれいな (kirei na): "beautiful" (adjective) の (no): turns the adjective into a noun phrase, referring to "the beautiful thing" or "the beauty." は (wa): marks the topic of the sentence. もちろん (mochiron): means "of course."
