I’m a direct descendant of John Adams and we’ve always celebrated the 4th slightly differently than others. When I was younger my great grandfather would read these letters between Adams and Jefferson to all of us grand children so that we had an idea of what role our family played in the revolution. I also find it to be a story written by God that both of these great men would die 50 years to the day that they attained the freedom that we now take for granted today. Great conversation guys.

OK! The United States Declaration of Independence was actually inspired and influenced by the widespread publication and circulation of pamphlets of "Common Sense" by Thomas Paine! Before the widespread circulation of "Common Sense", there were no Revolutionary patriots who openly advocated American Independence from British Empire! I just don't know why Thomas Paine is not considered as one of the Founders of the United States!

Yeah, they spoke of God in the declaration and in patriot pamphlets but that was just to appeal to their audience who they knew was almost entirely protestant. They were free masons, and they are affiliated with the atheistic cabal who instigated the French revolution and reign of terror. They also used a lot of trickery to get support for the rebellion. Early on most colonists saw themselves as English men, and loyal to the country that fought a war to secure the entire continent for them to settle.... But the founders and friends used atrocity propaganda, political satire cartoons, lies, spread hysteria about threats of British burning homes etc. When you really learn all of it, it's not as noble and heroic as we're taught. All the "liberty"... They formed a government system almost identical to thebone they left. The king in England didnt even have tyrannical power either. He was held in check by the house of commons and lords. So what liberty exactly did we gain from independence? The British Empire loathed slavery and abolished it before we did. We rebelled over a couple taxes. Taxes which the king desperately needed because of that little event called the seven years war in which he nearly bankrupted his empire to secure the land for the colonists.... Then for them to just spit at him. He refrained from the taxes for as long as he could, he sent troops when they complained about being raided. He sent supplies and land surveyors to map the area. Meh

@@frauleinhohenzollern That's a well-written and informative comment. I knew most of what you mentioned except the reason why King George III raised the taxes. I don't think that I had ever heard ANY reason be given. Where did you get your information? I like to document everything I find. Thank you.

I’m an appreciator of the Founding Fathers. Brave men. The mention of the flu in the context of a discussion about the Founders is quite laughable. Didn’t age well, but honestly should have been obviously beneath discussion at the time in association with men who risked life, family, and fortune to breathe free air and to defy the authority of tyrants. It’s going to require a similar effort from all of us worthy of their efforts to keep what they bequeathed us. To each of you gentlemen I pray, God speed.
