You’re scary accurate. I did have something like that happen. I noticed red flags with how overly inviting they were. I noticed some flags about needed a lot of support but incapable of giving it. I was struggling for about a day with the should I/shouldn’t I with cutting them off. Then, as I posted in a group venting for advice they had a moment where the mask slipped. They were getting angry I wasn’t dropping what I was doing (busy with my kids who had a sleep over friend over). I realized how demanding they were going to be, and how little consideration to my own personal life was going to be taken. I had agreed to help them with transportation and cleaning services. But, I let that guilt only linger for a moment. I cut it off. All it takes is someone trying to impede in my day to day/time with my kids…. As a single mom I take my home life very seriously and will do anything to protect my peace. When I noticed a mild “not right now” not even a full “no” wasn’t respectfully taken into account. Immediately angry… I instinctively had an immediate absolute NO. It triggered some old wounds with my mother and dealing with emotional incest… complete trauma was being resurfaced. I knew it was a test. Am I really ready to be done with over excessive need sucking me dry with no help back?? I’m not here to be an unconditional source of comfort. Equal give and take, or you gotta go. I’m sorry. It was sad, but I’m proud of myself for it.
