Police officers'have discretion when issuing citations. Unless the violation was a serious one, most reasonable LEOs would have given out a stern warning under such circumstances as your mom's .
@pippathomas5019
@pippathomas5019 5 ай бұрын
But not always. Sometimes cops have bad days too. Sometimes they don't feel like being lenient. Maybe the last person who gave that excuse lied? Who knows? But a law abiding citizen pulls over for an officer conducting a traffic stop. They provide id and such....they cooperate fully and accept the ticket. Even if they are having a bad day. To do otherwise, especially if you truly know better is a crime. So many others have gone to jail or worse for less than failure to stop. Just saying.....

beyond just felony evading. she openly admitted that she will be residing over her own charges so it wouldn't matter regardless. everyone seems to be missing this, when it's arguably the most important point. had this not become public, by her own statements, she fully intended to follow through. it goes beyond just abuse of power or entitlement - very clearly, by direct interpretation of her statements, she demonstrated her intent to corrupt the judicial process for her own benefit. i hope to God people start looking at this for what it is and stop getting distracted by the smaller detail. absolutely unforgiveable. the entire office needs investigation if the DA of all people is saying things like this on camera, taunting the police for even thinking of legally charging her for her crimes.

I think she needs harsh punishment, but to ruin her life completely isn’t what any of us would want for ourselves. We’ve all behaved badly at some point or another, and it wasn’t recorded, and we weren’t a DA or in a high visibility profession. She absolutely deserves repercussions, but blowing her whole life up over being rude and entitled isn’t the answer. How many rude and entitled 20 some things do we see? KZbin is full of them that get arrested, but their charges are usually pledged down and they get some community service and probation. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, the punishment needs to fit the crime, and ruining her entire life is not just punishment for how badly she behaved.
