@@Daniel-dj7fh well if they kept it a longer stroke in line for like the current 650, it would make more horsepower than a twin. And it would still make pretty good low and mid range power. @GIGABACHI2 жыл бұрын
ALL those tiny motorcycles with their tiny engines need all the gears they can get. Closer spaced gears ratios help get the most out of the already scarce HP & TQ made by a 125cc, 2 valves, air-cooled Mono. Or you can space'em apart to get a lower 1st for "technical, slow pace stuff" and a taller 5th or 6th to keep NVH levels, fuel consumption and engine wear down on empty long backroads. +1 on the Honda great mini-moto selection comment ! They have covered almost every class there's to it while doing a great job at it ! 👌🙂👍

@Daniel-dj7fh2 жыл бұрын
I agree that you really only need 15hp, but having ~30hp (offered by the 300cc bikes) will give you the option to go on the highway, and not have any issues on it.
@christosswc2 жыл бұрын
@@Daniel-dj7fh As you go up in cc you gain something and you lose something else. For me the biggest lure is what you said, 300cc because single cylinder engines mean you maintain the low weight of the bike, low maintenance costs, fuel consumption etc, the same advantages of the 125cc just toned down in exchange for a healthy increase in performance. Personally I do not need highway perfromance, only ride around town so I'm cool but I agree with your point. A high capaity single cylinder is the biggest temptation for me though as I said it's not really necessary to me so I'm holding on strong.

I haven't even been on a bike in 45 years and now I'm wanting a liter bike. I don't even see myself riding over 200 miles away from my house. My first bike was like the Dax, not sure what they called it back in the 70s. Now I'm pushing 66 and I'm ready to ride again. It's probably going to be an africa twin 1100 or maybe the kawi 1000sx. I think the twin would be a more comfortable ride, especially for me, because of my height 6'1". I also weigh around 276 lbs. I've sat on a 2023 ninja 1000sx and it seems like it was fairly comfy. Definitely not as upright as the twin. 2023 ninja 1000sx out the door (15,030). Africa Twin 1100 ES out the door (20,000).
