That we farm on this scale, is unimaginable to (I'd say) anyone except those in the business. Fields so huge.....combines so massive....grain trucks by the dozen....it's astonishing we enjoy this natural wealth on the North American continent....and that the world benefits as well. Just amazing....
Amazing Ag Tech! Helping to produce food to a hungry world! Congrats to Canadian Growers!

I haven't had a single problem with my puma 180 I love that tractor to death. my yard used to be all green with 1 6600 blew the big end, 1 6800 put itself on fire!, 2 6910's both of which had there own problems everyday out! 2 7810's one was a vario and the transmission ate itself and the other one we sold to a guy who now works self employed with us and he's having no end of trouble with it now and nearly bankrupt trying to find the money for parts. 2 7530's one was a hire tractor and it kept

Very interesting video... The only thing is how many farmers did he outbid to get this big... How many farmers no longer exist...how many of them works might wish they could own a farm ,a reasonable size farm of their own but can't be they can not out compete this volume of scale....how big does one person have to be to make a good living ...instead of 30 farmers doing well, we have one super rich farmer and 30 farm hands making only a modest living....so much for progress of the country

Well you see we owned our own land and rented stuff from the native reserve thats why you think we were so big since we are no longer on the reserve we are down to 7 machines . So before you complain about farms getting big while others are ok with sitting there making ends meet other push to be leaders

In Brazil is made harvesting and planting tractor comes in behind .... but we do not have silos, roads, railways and diesel is the most expensive in the world because of taxes .... Still Brazilian farmers is increasing productivity and production year after year ....

Many Canadian farmers are farming in Brazil now. They can get more crops per year and are sharing valuable knowledge with Brazilian farmers as we speak.

@alexveldhuis60049 жыл бұрын
Yes it is a political issue, not a physical one. Do we need Monsanto's GM crops? No we don't.
@Fentanyl39 жыл бұрын
Alex Veldhuis Sorry, while you may believe all the medias hype about monsanto, and GMO, but go ask a real farmer which crop produces better, and better feeds the world for less money. GMO is here to stay.
@alexveldhuis60049 жыл бұрын
I am a real farmer, Josh. That is why I am so against them.
@kyeprice13019 жыл бұрын
Alex Veldhuis all the farms in my area grow gm crops because they are easier to manage then conventional, and they do yield more than any other seed out there
@alexveldhuis60049 жыл бұрын
Kyle Price I am against them on principle. The GM seed producers modify the genes so they can identify them as theirs. They can then legitimately claim copyright and at the same time make the seeds non reproductive. This means that the crop can be grown and used in the conventional way but retaining any of it for the next year's seed is useless. Therefore they must buy again the following year. If it is so much better, why don't you clone someone you like and have them as your child, rather than producing your own children. It is the same thing. All of the world's medicine for example is available for free in nature is some way or form. But the pharmaceutical companies want to make money from these products, so they synthesize man made equivalents so they can patent them and claim intellectual property rights and do whatever they feel is necessary to safeguard these rights and make them as profitable as possible. We don't really know what the net effect is of these 'advances' and worst of all, people have a choice as to whether they want to consume modified crops. The lack of traceability and subsequent mixing of these crops and conventional crops means we cannot any longer be certain of what we are eating. It is not all about making a grower's life easy, these are food product we are talking about and I for one prefer to avoid GM crop product in the same way that I prefer to avoid meat products where artificially added growth hormones have been used. You can all have all the opinions you like, but you ain't going to convince me to change my approach to this subject. Monsanto wants to own nature and that is fundamentally wrong as far as I am concerned. If farmers feel they can't make enough without resorting to this shit, then they should get out of farming and let someone else have a go. Any claims made that this is how we are going to feed the world, are made by people with an invested interest in this. No, the issue of world hunger is purely political, not a physical one.

I use about 520 lbs of Gold Medal flour every year for bread. So how much of that field is that? I think one of those Combines is mine (;
@PaulinaWest19 жыл бұрын
B Dawson Okay, you are right. 1,000 bushels per hour means that the combine harvests all the bread flour I need for one year in about 1 minute, and if we added all of the pasta, it would take a minute and a half. I miscalculated a little. (: Happy Thanksgiving.
@alexveldhuis60049 жыл бұрын
Paulina West I drove a conventional combine, ie: with straw walkers and they are not like the more modern axial flow type you see here. Even that combine was managing 30 tonnes an hour, so these machine probably manage around 45 tonnes an hour. So collecting the 250 kilos, or so, of flour you use a year takes 1 machine about 20 seconds.
@alexveldhuis60049 жыл бұрын
Zak Thackwray Between 10 and 13 tonnes is the capacity of the on board bin, depending on make and model.

In wheat harvest one of these combines can harvest up to 1500 bu/hr depending on yield. That is 1.5 US semi loads. You use less than 9 bu/yr. There are 71 loaves to a bu. Wheat in 2016 brings 4 to 5 $ per bu. at the farm.
