Man… I live in Michigan near sone of the greatest musky lakes on earth, and yet there’s nothing I’d rather catch on a Medusa than an alligator gar! Incredible to FINALLY see someone catch a gar on a musky lure (and get a hook out of a fish)!
@TyPigPatrolАй бұрын
Thanks Mike! Yeah the best part about that lure fishing is leaving no hooks in the gar!!

For being as big a monster as they are, Alligator Gar are one of the absolute sweetest and nice fish there are! They are like big puppies. I learned that you can catch smaller gar that are chomping your bait by just slowly reeling them in then netting them! You don’t even need to set the hook. Those river puppies will just happily chomp their way in! 😂
@TyPigPatrolАй бұрын
Yes they are! So docile once landed! Thanks for watching!
@BassassinatorАй бұрын
@@TyPigPatrol They are river puppies. Once you have them in and aren’t pulling anymore, they will just tend to stay. I almost feel bad about eating them occasionally.

Medusa’s are my favorite Muskie baits along with bulldawgs. Super fun baits to use.
@TyPigPatrolАй бұрын
Is a bulldawg like a Medusa but with one tail instead of 3?
@shanelizotte6318Ай бұрын
Yes, the regular bulldawgs have a single tail and there is also a double dawg that has two tails. They’re made by Muskie Innovations. I’ve had very good luck on both.

You guys are catching monsters, and I'm catching fish not much bigger than the lures I use. 😂 I caught 1 that was probably a 1lb smallie better than being skunked. There hasn't been substantial rainfall. So if tide picks up, it's still a little on the low side.

That's awesome man, never thought to use a Medusa for anything other than Pike and musky. Only thing I've caught besides those two species was an 18 inch smallmouth. I don't think it actually tried to eat it, just attacked it. I might have to try throwing this a bit more often

Ty have you ever fished in Alaska. Would love to see you pull in a 150+ pound Halibut.
@JustinQuillingАй бұрын
I caught a 175 pound halibut sports fishing near Yakutat when I weighed about 175 pounds many years ago. It took an hour to reel it in and then I was so tired it took me about an hour until I could start fishing again. Next I caught a huge skate which was like reeling up a huge sheet of plywood, even harder. After that I had enough.

For a bait that big id swap those treble hooks out for ones 1 or 2 sizes bigger...that medusa is a girthy bait and the action is pretty nice. Id like to see one red/yellow with the spots being white instead of black
