Before I started to travel actively by hitchhiking and couchsurfing at the age of 23, I had a totally different perception of how people are. It was a life-changing experience to discover how kind and helpful people are towards strangers. I did traveling without money for several months a year and I most of the time got a place to sleep and food to eat wherever I went. I am happy I dared to do that since I wouldn't be able to afford the trips to the destinations I reached otherwise.

We're travelling through Central America at the moment and we've found a massive discrepancy between the way some countries are portrayed compared to how they actually are. So many people skip visiting El Salvador because they're scared that it's too dangerous, but it's an amazing country. Definitely agree that you should go out there and experience places for yourself

Dear Sorelle, you popped up in my feed recently and I want to thank you for making this video. Instead of me telling those exact things to everyone who asks me about my thoughts about my traveling experiences, I shall just send them this video!!! It is 100% how I talk, from the content to the mini rant about governments, hehe ... thank you. I think the universe sent you on those expansive travels so that you have the intrinsic motivation and understanding to use your skills and reach for making true and lasting changes to the world, in whatever area you choose to reign next (assuming it will be the financial education channel). It tested your commitment to growth and now that you have proven yourself through the money gains and the willingness to get to know yourself through the dark night (more like 2-3 years) of the soul, it will reward you 1000fold. Welcome to the other side, it is beautiful here. Say hi if you want any strategic support in that. xox

Another amazing and up to the point video Sorelle! For me moving abroad was probably the best thing I ever did in my life so far and made me such a better person! I totally see your point now that money is not evil and it will magnify the real person you are, so in this sense I love the fact that you create such influential videos to reduce ignorance and hate! The last point is also so big! I think I am also finding that even though it may sound a bit counterintuitive, the more I travel and the more I meet new cultures and people, the more I get to know my own self too.

I live in a city with 11 million people, we have here absolutly everything from the whole world. And for sure, there are people living in the forest, but it´s not like Tarzan and this is a small fraction and those people are very simple. We here are not dangerous. We don´t eat people, neither our indians LOL I´ve heard this one.

Travelling, in retrospect, might seem like a waste of money... But when you consider the experiences and lessons you learn from it, you see the true value of what it brings. Memories, culture, people, environments and most importantly, freedom. Travelling allows us to embark on adventures and, ultimately, seek inspiration and grow as an individual and human being.

Everyone has their story. Listen. We can always learn if we are open to. Sometimes that needs an inner push, but its worth it. What I learned in my journey is, that, I can always make me home. I can practise little habits all over the word, if I feel lost, to remind me that even though everything is changing around me, I am still here and can make myself feel safe 💖 Becouse I sometimes its overwhelming, when everything slips away and changes. 100% disagree about critical thinking being a luxury ; although i do think i understand what u r trying to say ; obvs someone living a subsistence lifestyle is spending a lot more time getting their next meal, but that does NOT mean that they dont have time to think critically about the world that they live in [ie this is quite literally how all human advancement has occured, thusly if sorelle's theory was correct, then she wouldnt be here making this video XD] ; maybe 'critical thinking' is not what u should have said becuz what u mean is just more 'big picture' problems globally like pollution/corruption/politics/economics/etc, and yes we agree there, if u have to spend all day tending to the farm or hunting/gathering, your priorities are lined up differently ; but ancient humans clearly were able to spend plenty of time thinking critically about their own world, and at literally every previous point in history we have those humans who were and did think critically about their worlds and took action to make changes, otherwise we wouldnt be here =] ; a much bigger barrier to critical thinking is ignorance, and that having access to the kinds of tools that can help to remove ignorance from a person [ie philosophy/logic/ethics/science/spirituality/etc], yes those are closer to a 'luxury' by this definition, but even in the 'developed' world ppl with access to the internet [literally all human knowledge] still dont fully take advantage of this luxury, so even just having access is not necessarily enough to prevent ignorance from being rampant/spread ; it is certainly not an easy problem to solve ; good video overall SA =], i agree with basically everything else =]

Now I love where I live, I know I can find even a better place for me but I so wanna give it all before I move. I don't wanna keep on being stuck in that starting from scratch loop. I don't get post notifications often, and when I see that it's you that uploaded, I HAVE to see what you have gifted to your viewers. This is such a breath of fresh air to listen to in our current climate, where so many humans are turning against one another for a plethora of reasons. I miss travelling SO much, and I completely agree with you Sorelle! I haven't been lucky enough to travel to 50 countries yet (only 11 so far!), BUT I did learn a lot about myself and others in my journeys! Travelling does make you more in tune with yourself and others, it makes you more open to different people and cultures. I've been to a couple "more dangerous" countries, and honestly it's not really dangerous as long as you respect local values and lifestyle. You also develop a sense of awareness if someone might want to hurt you and it helps you make the right decisions to avoid dangerous situations. Of course, I'm not saying someone can fully become immune to danger, but developing that sense of awareness and being able to understand where others might be coming from helps tremendously. Also, volunteering when traveling is AWESOME! I volunteered at an animal shelter in Thailand for 3 months, and it was the best time of my life. I met amazing people from all around the world, learned so much about the culture and had amazing experiences. Although I was able to rent my own housing while there, the shelter I worked at did provide housing to a limited number of volunteers. I do recommend anyone who's afraid of travelling to explore volunteer opportunities! Hope this helps anyone who is looking to take the leap!

@@jimmoses6617 Hi! Thanks for your kind words. I absolutely see that all my parents did for me was out of love, and they have definitely lifted me up too. That being said, it's also good to make peace with the fact that everyone creates expectations for others and mistakes can be made even when you love someone. I've only been to about 5 countries and I can say this is 100% accurate. One of the biggest takeaways I got from traveling (growing up in a family kind of obsessed with making money) is you do not need a lot to be happy. I agree especially on all points about people: they are happier, they are the same but unique, they are kind - mostly: Anyway my naive self also had to learn several times on my trips, that NOT all people have good intentions - After all this 1 percent also has their reason for their bad intention. Well, fear stops gripping you, but other fears appear and want to be worked on after that trip and influence further decisions and travels. It is a big school out there!

I feel like you might be a bit delusional about #2 "The World is Kind" if you are just bee bopping about here and there as a Tourist I can see how might develop that point of View, but I know of Several people who subscribed to this kind of "Theory" one couple tried to Bike Ride through Afghanistan and was beheaded by ISIS, two other Girls went to Morocco, and was Beheaded by Muslims there. I know many who Served in the Military who would disagree with your "Theory" I personally was stationed in the Philippines for two years and the Communist NPA Sparrow Units tried to kill me TWICE! I lived in Tijuana Mexico and two guys jumped out of a SUV and tried to Kidnap me at Gunpoint, I know Martial Arts so I was able to beat them up and get away. While I lived there I constantly saw dead bodies floating in the Canal almost once a month killed by the Cartel. But my point is, once you go through experiences like this, you are quickly snapped out of any delusional thinking, and snapped back to Reality in a Hurry. Keep in mind the Bad guys don't care, they WILL KILL YOU! No matter how much you have in the Bank! Be Smart, Don't be a Victim!

Hi sorelle, can you make a video on how to start backpacking/traveling abroad for beginners who want to leave their country for say 6 mos or so? Tips on this and how much one should save for this type of journey. Thanks so much!

Nice video, do you speak Polish fluently? I listen to Easy Polish to get used to the language and learn to understand it. I speak other Slavic languages. I totally agree with you. I also slowly travel the world, sometimes in a dress in a male body and the world is kind! Even if you might be less conventional:)

Literally tearing up at the thought of a love based world. This would make a good online community group ;)

thinking critically is not a luxury. Some of us are not able to NOT think critically 100% of the time, all day every day. Working, relaxing, even while sleeping, some of us are thinking critically nonstop. For us it's not a choice. analyzing, questioning everything is like breathing air. Never didn't do it, even when poor I always had time for it. Heck, the poorer I was in the past, the more time I had for critical thinking in fact. Critical thinking can be done at any time of the day, anywhere. There is literally nothing in the universe that can stop you from thinking critically whenever you like. But worrying about CO2 footprint is Not "thinking critically", because if you were thinking critically, you'd realize it's not an issue as they claim. I've spent the last few years deep diving this stuff and it's not that complicated nor is CO2 alarmism justified. Thinking critically would prove that. Just goes to show how few people in well off countries are actually thinking critically, further proving that critical thinking is not a luxury.

$2/day not good but comparable for the cost of living in those countries. The UN, because of capitalism, doubled the amount of money from estimated 99c/day to $1.98. these people are hardly rich but they can now exist with some comfort

I have a different “excuse” why I’m not traveling yet…I’d love to travel, I have all the means; a remote job, financial stability and savings, I can literally work from any part of the world but…I have 2 cats. I know it’s not the end of the world, but the prospect of traveling with them both (and one of them really HATES traveling) is really scary and I kinda don’t wanna push this on them when I know they won’t be happy living that lifestyle. On the other hand, I can’t bear the thought of being away from them, I miss them even when I’m away for the weekend. I feel like I’m missing out big time but at the same time I don’t wanna change it cause it means giving up my animals that I love (which is not an option for me, I love them too much). What do I do? 😭
