Myriam's Nature Thank you for your generous tips regarding acrylic pouring. You have helped me really feel comfortable with the art form. One question...where do you get the small tubing? I know you are busy so no great rush. Thank you. I also love to listen to your voice. You seem so happy and I love it when you chuckle. Keep up the good work. Judy Secor

I have watched many of your videos and have to say you are one of the most creative when it comes to pours. I have not done my 1st pour yet, but have gathered supplies to get started. I love the idea of using the fork for the marble effect, if you get a pour that is not to your liking, "fork it" and recreate it. TFS

Myriam your genius. I absolutely love the brush, straw and fork so much I'm going to pour right now. I'm still a newbie. Working on the cell size and consistency of the paint. This was incredible Myrium. Absolutely. You have given me the push Ive needed to help me try. I went to Michaels and bought liquid tex but dont have alcohol or a pouring medium and talked to the manager about the resins but he didn't about what they are using now. I told himto get on utube. I should have gotten pva but couldn't find any liquid tex pm. But do have Elmers extra +. And floetrol. I plam to try this Thursday. You are so patient and your voice is so pleasant not to say what a perfect beautiful demonstration. Im 78 and used to oil paint til my eyes went bad. And my thumb had surgery so detail is not so easy. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I loved all your work and this topped the chart. You are a very talented artist!
@MyriamsNature7 жыл бұрын
Hi Carol! Thank you so much for this incredibly kind comment! It added so much to my day! About the things you need to start... Floetrol and Elmer's is absolutely enough. I personally only use Floetrol... I've tried Liquitex and PVA/Elmer's too but settled happily on just Floetrol. Alcohol is just a way of getting effects without using silicone and resin is something you'd use just to coat your paintings IF you wanted (unless you wanted to paint WITH resin.) If you have some paint and something to paint on, you've got all you need to start! 😀 If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.💕 I wish you fun and success!

Subscribed. Wanted to share a tool tip, as you asked. I have made various brushes and implements from various things found in nature and packaging. Pine needles and beach grass, sticks, vines, etc. Just bind these to some sort of handle of appropriate length. I made a rubberband 'flay' wand by bunching the bands around the stem of my battery operated miniature paint stirrer. (Dip this in paint, dab off excess, and place it quite near or on the surface before turning it on.) Use it dry to achieve feathered blending effects. The bands will drag just a bit on a rougher surface with delightfully surprising results. If you like splatter, you can get that at the end of a wand.

Hi Amrita. I use a lot of Artist's Loft paints (from Michaels)... For this one I'm pretty sure I used their flow acrylics: neon green, and white and then the tube paints: cerulean blue, brilliant magenta and yellow.

H Myriam, First of I want to compliment your soothing voice and your choice of vernacular. Your professionalism is on point. I LOVE your designs! Your techniques and tips are different than anyone else's!! The that's a biggie!! You were the only one to give a baseline for quantity of paint to use. Hurray!! Super biggie!!! I have a couple Q's for you. I think you said to use 5 pts Floetrol in lieu of a medium- right? (I wish I had found you before my first 10+ canvases) and 1 Pt Paint, little H2o. Drops of 3in1. I had seen vids that had every variation of each of those elements, to stir or not to stir. It was quite confusing. I had had problems getting cells (thought it was my 3in1), and of course my heat wasn't working right. So the results were rather disappointing. Your use of negative space is quite distinct, with your 'natural' added touches I love them too. My other Q is how to treat the sides of the canvas I don't want random drips to look like mistakes. So how to make it look right? I kind of like how the cells drip over. Do you have a vid that shows how do you do this? Thanks for your channel, Monica
@MyriamsNature7 жыл бұрын
Hi Monica... Oh my gosh! Thank you so so much for that amazingly kind assessment. You absolutely made my night! Now to answer your questions... as best I can.😊 Up to this point I have worked primarily on smaller canvases (12x12" and smaller) . Given that, I have not gone out of my way to get huge cells... I tend to like smaller, more localized cells. The mix I use (5:1 Floetrol to paint) allows me to get the vibrancy I need from the paint's color without wasting paint (ounce for ounce Floetrol is cheaper than any paint I use). Some have good success mixing Floetrol with PVA glue or pouring medium ... I'm going to do a comparison to show any differences it makes (I'll post whatever I find 😊). About silicone, the thought in the pouring community is that stirring it into your paint very well gets you small cells while only stirring it in a little gets you bigger cells. I personally stir silicone well for an extra reason ... I never have greasy canvases that require cleaning once a pour dries. The silicone I use literally vanishes (gets absorbed/evaporates... I honestly don't know which) if I stir it in well. If you get your paint mix to the right consistency and add a bit of silicone you really don't need a torch. Don't stress adding heat. The torch gets used mostly to enhance cells but honestly I rarely need it... I use it in videos just to show the effects but sometimes regret it 😄. The amount I mix for a pour works out to 1ml of paint mix per 1 sq. inch of canvas... That lets me cover the canvas without wasting paint. Now if I want to be able to let the paint run off the sides of the canvas, for pretty cell covered sides, I make about 10-20% more paint mix and then tilt more. Wetting the sides with paint first encourages the pour to flow down the sides more evenly. (Watch my ocean/beach pours ... I think I show that step.) If I do a negative space pour, I paint the sides in the background color and then let whatever dirty pour approaches the edge just run off the side... It looks great I think, as if the pour wrapped around the canvas. I hope you'll like the look too if you give it a try. I hope that helps a bit Monica! Thank you again for the lovely words... I am so grateful! 😊💕🎨

Myriam's Nature Funny thing, after watching one of your vids I knew we had stuff in common. Little did I know how much. Not just us both using the same medicine cups, that I also use for acrylics. Your idea about the tubing to change direction is just fabulous. I found so far that a coffee stir is a better size for me than a reg. straw, it also seems to get less saliva inside. If you do Peyote stitch beading, I use that stir for tubes for stability. Mothers of invention. As I watched more or all of your vids, you mentioned being a jewelry artist as well. And loving copper! That did it! We're kindred spirits. In Maryland I used to get a group of friends together to bead at a self service coffee house, or bookstore, you would have had a blast too. Now that I've moved to Fl. I need to find like minded artists to join. I would like to see your jewelry as well, if this post is private, I'd send my email to share a photo. Thanks again for your vids and writing me back. I know you're probably very busy, so you don't have to reply to this if you don't have time. Take care, Monica
@MyriamsNature7 жыл бұрын
We doooo have a lot in common Monica! I have done peyote stitch and really loved it but had to leave it due to the time. It is one of those things that I know people don't understand in terms of time involved to make a piece so I couldn't "afford" to make jewelry that way for my business... Alas. If you'd like to see a little bit of my work, I have a small Etsy shop ( byMyriam.etsy.com ). You can also safely/privately contact me there and send pictures. 😊 I understand needing to find likeminded artists... It is wonderful to share what we love to do. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you find your FL "tribe" soon. 😀💕🎨 Thank you for being such a lovely, kind supporter... I genuinely appreciate it! (Oh my gosh... I totally forgot to mention how much I giggled about the saliva in the straw thing... it drives me cuckoo 😂. I always end up feeling like Sylvester the cat! )

Thank you Janet... I'm delighted that you are hoping to watch more. Happy to have answered the fork question, but now YOU have to play with one... It is so much fun! You will be surprised by how much that silly little thing can do. Thanks again.💕😊

Myriam's Nature I've been watching a lot of videos lately so I can learn the how-to's & how-not-to's with dirty pours. Yours is the first one that didn't sound like a darn lecture. And I don't mean a school lecture 😉. I enjoyed the welcoming calm in your voice.💖

Oh good... I love this medium and hope to help others discover it and love it too. I am so happy that these videos feel calming. I'm pretty new to KZbin so I had trouble gauging how I came across... I so appreciate how nice everyone is and how encouraging. It has definitely helped. Don't ever hesitate to let me know what would help in the videos Janet ... I am happy to learn and look forward to making these better and better. Thanks again for your kindness. 😊

My freebie share::; You know where you can get free plastic sheets? Off of lots of packaging! The clear “window” of many retail boxes (Think of all the boxed sets that are sold for holidays where you can see the contents) and the solid backs of the vacuum heat wrapped packing that has to be pried open with the jaws of life (there’s actually an As Seen in TV tool to cut that stuff open, in the SAME kind of packaging 😂). Anyway, you can cut that wonderfully free stuff with scissors and create a giant “fork” for large canvases to get the effect you so wonderfully demonstrated.

Oh my gosh the jaws of life, it made me giggle so much Melinda… And I absolutely had to roll my eyes at the irony of the tool being packaged in that insanely difficult stuff. But your creative use for it is super smart… Thank you for sharing that! 😊

Subscribed! Great ideas and very well presented. Thank you! I was trying to think if I could add a tip. I've used the non slip matting to drag across my pours, I like the uneven edging and I can cut it to size and wash it to reuse it. 😁

Oh thank you for that amazingly supportive, encouraging comment!! 😊 And the tip... I would NEVER have thought of the non-slip mat... The uneven edge is brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing that with us!!

I LOVE YOUR VIDEO, VERY INFORMATIVE, I'M VERY NEW BUT LOVE THIS. I didn't have a Plastic Fork so I used COMB. GREAT Effects. You said to give you our works. I will continue to watch you. I'm glad I can use Tiles,I have alot. But the Medium, can I just use Glue,Water & Acrylic paints?
@MyriamsNature7 жыл бұрын
Oh I'm so glad Carol... Thank you. Tiles are great as a "canvas"... They are cheap and can't warp in any way! 😊 To answer your question, you can absolutely use glue and water in place of pouring medium. The glue that seems to be the best for this is Elmer's Glue-All. I love that you used a comb! I just did a video using hair picks and a comb (to marble the paint) that I think you might like... Here is link for it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eobaYmRnbdiDo8k I hope you have fun with the paints! Thanks again for the kind comment!💖

PS...just a hint regarding another use for your art. Before you wipe it down with the acetate, , take shots of favorite parts of that art....You can use them for banners, cards etc, etc, if you feel so inclined.....and then you can swipe and get something Totally different.....All those fork run-thrus resulted in a Brilliantly beautiful art work....IMHO

Very good ideas Sass! I try to take shots periodically but sometimes get so lost in the paint process that I forget. 😄 The fork is a wonder... it shocks me every single time I use it!😱😊

Thanks Myriam! So good to meet someone else who uses BBQ skewers for drawing back into a pour! :) If you wipe them just after painting, you can get quite a few uses from the same ones over time. One question about the pipettes and syringes: are you using these with acrylic mixed with pouring medium, and if so, what has worked to clean and reuse them? I found the syringes didn't work well on the second use, but maybe I need a different cleaning routine.
@MyriamsNature7 жыл бұрын
Thank you first of all for your kind comment. I totally agree about reusing the skewers. If you've got crazy glue in the house, coat the first inch or two of the skewer with a thin layer of glue and let it dry totally... Now it's waterproof and easier to clean 😀. About washing pipettes etc, I keep a bowl of slightly soapy water next to me while I'm working and dunk my pipettes and syringes in as soon as I'm done with them... As long as they are in the water, the paint in them won't dry so I can keep working. Then for clean up I just draw soapy water in and out of them until they are clean. I prefer Floetrol to pouring medium now (waaaaay cheaper and works super well!) but I'm sure the water will work with the medium too. All that stuff is water clean up before it dries. I hope that helps.😊

Thanks Myriam. I'll test this out with pouring medium. :)

Hi. A plastic fork is now my new best friend!! ''Tis a wonderful thing. Have you any idea why the edges of my canvas are refusing to take the paint. The first time I tried the negative space technique I used far too much paint and at least half of it ended up on the cellar floor lol. I'm finding it so useful to watch you work the paint and am hoping that my two attempts following your instructions will be fit to hang in my newly decorated hall - if the first one ever dries that is!! Keep up the good work and many thanks for sharing. X
@MyriamsNature7 жыл бұрын
So glad you're loving the fork Ian! When you say the edges won't take the paint, do you mean the paint slides off exposing the edges? If that's the case try a slightly thicker mix and/or less silicone (if you're using silicone). If that's not what you meant at all let me know.😊
