The thing is that there a great difference between the way native speakers speak on KZbin or a teacher in a class, and the way English is spoken in real life and in movies.
@cleberandrade
@cleberandrade 6 ай бұрын
That's why I stopped searching for English teachers on KZbin after years stucked on "classroom fluency". Now I try to focus on native people showing their everyday lives or at least not trying to teach English, just discussing whatever that doesn't include grammar or the language itself.

@@cleberandradeyes, because the teachers on youtube are teaching us and sure they speak clearly. If we want to improve furthermore, indeed we have to watch like vlog or podcast content. But still we need a teacher to fix our grammar and so on.

Hi Jennifer! Thanks! Synonyms that come to my mind, meaning the same as "I'm tired": I'm exhausted, I'm worn out. In general, I understand rather well American English and British English dialects and up to a point Australian English. By contrast, Indian and Scottish English dialects and some foreigners' English-speaking accents are often difficult to understand. I like a lot how you play with words (puns), many times they're quite witty! For example: what did the grape say when it got crushed? Nothing, it just let out a little wine. Your joke (pun) was quite funny, too! I got it. Some words are pronounced so similarly, that you can make some hilarious puns out of them. Synonyms that come to mind that means the same as "That test was a piece of cake": that test was a walk in the park, that test was as easy as ABC, that test was child's play, that test was easy peasy, that test was as easy as one-two-three. Other examples: spot on, you hit the nail on the head! You can say that again! I'm going to move to Antarctica when pigs fly! I watched this lesson without subtitles (CC). All in all, I ticked most of these boxes, but I still need to work on some areas. All the best to you!

In my case I do love watching 90's English series and short videos about stand up because they tend to use random words even when the context is not related and I can use those words to learn vocabulary, new expressions and put a lot of attention 👌 I realized I was able to understand English when I watched one of your videos with no captions at all and I was like, OMG this is unbelievable.

Wow ! Amazing video! I never had the opportunity to talk to native speaker but whenever i speak to someone , they be like : your accent is very good , are you from usa . The fact i learned by myself . By watching videos on KZbin. Read in English. . I thought i was paranoid whenever i dream in English i didn't know it was a sign i am fluent . Can't wait to have my dreams in russian and Spanish 😂. I must admit , jokes in english really help me . I can understand "British accent" , it kinda very funny . Thank to Stewie 😂😂, the Sweetest and most famous British accent. Ps : i really relish your videos , i hope someday i will be less broke than i am today to take one of your courses. 🎉🎉🎉 🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹

I watched this video on 1.75x playback speed without closed captions. I understood it 100%. I think this is a good sign of fluency. I know you’re talking very clearly and slow, using a simple vocabulary, even on higher speed is very understandable, but I’m still able to understand people when they speak in the “normal” way. My listening skills are pretty good nowadays, my biggest problem is on speaking tbh. I can communicate but sometimes it is hard to express myself the same way I can do it in my first language

Teacher Jennifer, when I stared using the iinternet, specifically youtube videos,I only was able to understand American English teachers, now I understand UK , Chinese, and Indian English Teachers, but I've rerely had the oportunity to speak with common or normal American persons, I know it's dofferent because they speak faster or naturally, they use colloquial expressions, they have multiple acecnts,etc.

Hey, Jenifer! I'm listening to your lessons without close captions, but mostly I don't understand the other native speakers; I use the contractions myself, but hardly understand the others ones. In the most cases I use the formal speech; I'm trying to use ideoms, but can't recall the right one in the right time; the phrasal verbs is my weak point: I'm struggling with them till now. And in addition I can boast of myself that forget the simplest words talking with neitive speakers, not mentioning the way I'm writing(it's a real disaster). Thanks a lot for giving a hand and hoap. 16:30

Hi Jennifer 🎉 First of all, I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for your excellent channel and your consistent productivity. I have a question, and I hope you have the time to answer it, as it is very important to me. I am planning to take the IELTS exam in the next six months, but I'm unsure of where to start. There are many resources available on KZbin, which has made me feel more confused. I was considering your Fluent English course on your website, but I'm not certain if it is suitable for the IELTS exam. Specifically, I'm wondering if the course covers all four skills tested in the IELTS exam. Could you please guide me on this? , I mean is your course more suitable for only speaking? I would greatly appreciate your advice on this matter. Thank you for your time .

@@cuiperindy2120 well, we can use it in various situations. According to my memory. I don't know what your opinion is here. But after being angry, or disappointed we also use this to refer to how we feel the tiredness. So that's why I use it. I hope in this comment I wasn't rude to you. 🙏

@@devashikajayamanna2255 hello. Not rude at all. I see what you mean and I agree. In my native language and other languages I speak, "tired" can mean also "fed up". But you have to specify why you are "fed up". Same is in English Imo. If I'm fed up of working too much, doesn't mean I'm phisically tired. It means I don't like the fact that I have to work so much. Fed up, methink, comes froom feed: if you are fed up, you can't stand more of that specific food.
