Bill Wyman is a seriously overlookef snd underrated bass player. People use the term underrated alot, but SERIOUSLY. Him and Charlie are so in the pocket. This is a masterclass on Rock N' Roll rhythm sections. RIP Stu, Bobby, and Charlie. Legends.

Led Zeppelin would like a word…
@Bigfrank883 ай бұрын
@@WhiskeySam1Long rant ahead: No one will ever deny Zeppelin’s majesty and their incredible output in the 70s and wouldn’t necessarily argue with anyone calling them the greatest. BUT I’d like to emphasize a few points: I’ll put the Stones peak years 68-73 their ‘big four’ string of albums as well as their live shows from that period against anything Zeppelin put out. Even when the Stones were fumbling in the mid 70s and Zeppelin were putting out some of their best work, The Stones tour of the Americas was still massive (though I’ll give ya that Mick sounds like a coked up rooster most of that time). Also mind you The Stones had an unprecedented comeback and reached a new level of popularity the same time Zeppelin were crumbling. I’ll give you Stones are less symphonic and technical than Zeppelin (nothing wrong with that different approaches and Keith was never trying to be fastest gun in the west) but in terms of sheer energy and durability The Stones are least worthy of being in conversation. The Stones put out Some Girls 78, Live at El Mocambo, and this concert all in the same period that Page’s ability to play had fallen into a decline. Now like most Stones fans, I’m not much a fan of the Ron Wood era, I’ll give him credit for reenergizing them during Some Girls and Tattoo You but most of the albums from 80s on I could take or leave. But to be clear The Stones had the HIGHEST GROSSING tour of the whole 2010s beating out major artists like Taylor Swift and Beyonce. I’m not even in support of The Stones still touring but that’s pretty astounding. I LOVE Zeppelin, I love every single album ( Yes, III and In Through the Out Door too). But while it may sound crazy to say given how rich The Stones are but I think when it comes to the big arguments over ‘The Greatest’ for the big heavy hitting rock bands I think The Stones are actually underrated at this point.

Keith Richards has talked a lot over the years about what he calls "the ancient art of weaving"- the trademark Rolling Stones sound of two guitarists playing off of one another.
@amancu19633 жыл бұрын
valid only with Brian Jones and Ronnie Wood. Mick Taylor was more a lead guitarist, he didn't fit too much in this role. Nevertheless he brought the stones records with him to a level they couldn't get elsewhere ... Chapeau!
@Methilde2 жыл бұрын
@@amancu1963 Taylor could be weaving with Keith and Jagger both, saw him doing that at Brussell 73. Two guitarists in a crazy One.

I still have my ticket stub from this legendary performance. Broadcast via closed circuit television in major cities around the country. If you ever turn up the bass when you listen to the Stones you hear amazing melodic bass parts when Bill plays. I especially like the early rhythm and blues albums bass parts. How about I'm a King Bee , with the zoom bass, or You can't catch me- off of Rolling Stones Now, or just about any song off the early Rhythm and blues covers. He comes up with the most creative bass parts that play a kind of melody . But, you have to listen hard, because he did not drown you with volume, but rather taste.

It's about playing as long as possible l think, for them. They've never quite said that's it, as far as l'm aware. Probably the closest they came to possibly wrapping it up was after Charlie died. And maybe even then it wasn't quite an option. l do remember reading that they want to play until they're 90. Well Mick and Keith are both 80 this year so who knows. I've never heard anyone say African American blues men should retire when they were in their 70s and some played well into their 80s. And as Keith said, it's no one's business but the Rolling Stones business.
