I'm fascinated and I have so many questions! I'd love Cameron to explain how she approaches a new language: do you cover vocabulary first? how do you teach yourself grammar? I'm an English teacher and I know what it takes to learn (and teach) a language...Having a friend who's a native speaker of the language you learn is not enough - you need to know the rules and how to teach them. In addition, if you wish to master 20+ languages, and given that you have only 24 hours a day (including sleep time), that leaves you with couple of minutes for each language... So how do you do it? What is your method? (I guess that you've improved your methods from the first language you started with till the more recent ones...)

I just watched the first video where Wouter talks to her (and her father) for the first time. There she said that her goal is to speak 103 languages. By reading the comments a lot of different native speakers mentioned that for example her japanese, french, arabic, ect. is not realy good. I mean saying "hi, my name is" and "how is the wather" is not really speaking a foreign language isnt it? As a german native speaking human on this planet i can say that its the same with her german. So although i think that she is brilliant at 14 in my opinion she is only speaking spanish at a decent level. Please correct me if i am wrong but if she wants a job in translating (mentioning at 14:37) earning a lot of money she clearly has to improve some of those and not learn like 5 sentences in another languages and consider it as " i can speak 22 languages now".

I also watched that video and I agree. At this point one can say she is curious about languages and might go far if she decides to focus on 1 or 2 of them to become proficient. I'm not even talking about forming sentences. If I don't know she's trying to speak Russian, I wouldn't know. @@soniairacisareri6076 Learning languages is a process that never ends, it has no end. Mistakes are and always will be made, even if the person has already learned the language. This is something that most people do not understand. *All Russian speakers who live in Spain and who have not grown up here after many years of living in Spain still make lots of mistakes in Spanish. (I say Russian speakers as I can say Lithuanians, Moroccans, Romanians, etc). On the other hand, knowing a language does not mean that we have to speak it as well as native speakers for a simple reason: We are NOT native speakers, so for obvious reasons native speakers know their mother tongue(s) much better than us. So, we should not be so demanding with those who decide to learn our mother tongue(s). We can not pretend others to know our mother tongue(s) as well as us.

If he so wishes to learn a language, he should give an actual effort and the time necessary. It is disingenuous otherwise. It also speaks of his inherent dishonesty and proclivity to lie. Hi wouter! I have an advice for you! You can't say "저는 한국어를 조금 입니다" because the verb 입니다 in Korean means "to be", so if you speak like that, it literally means "i am a little bit Korean language"(yeah, it sounds strange 😂😅). You can say "한국어를 조금 할 수 있어요!" or it is even better to say "한국어를 잘못해요" (which means "i can't speak korean well). You also don't need to say always "저는", you can avoid to repeat it~ This is my advice, hope to see your progress in Korean and Chinese 😄 화이팅!

Oh please. Being a real polyglot - it is confidently know every language at a confirmed level not less than B1. Three weeks learned Vietnamese? No, man, you don’t speak Vietnamese, you just picked up basic phrases and simple sentences. To know a language is not only to be able to say "Hi, how are you?" but also to read articles, books, watch movies, use extensive vocabulary in speech. What they’re doing is more of a hobby, a pastime. Like, this month I’m learning Portuguese, then Italian, then Chinese. No, friends, you’re not polyglots, you’re just nice people who pick up the top of every language and pretend to "speak" so many languages. No, it’s not like that. I know four of the languages they use at the B2 level, and I can tell you that the level of some of the languages they use is unlikely to be confirmed by an A1 test.

Brazilian Portuguese for example got worse than the last time when she was first interviewed by Wouter. She is now trying to copy a very bad accent in terms of literacy/grammar, having a very unclear pronunciation. The whole body language is completely exaggerated. German is also not great. She couldn’t get some simple stuff Wouter was saying. And so forth. Spanish is really good. Impressive. It she would get 10 languages to the level she speaks Spanish this would be truly amazing. And I am not talking about having an accent. Basically anyone learning languages will have an accent, I have never met a polyglot who speaks tons of languages to achieve mother tong level in all languages. It is about pronunciation, grammar, not mixing up languages (like Portuguese and Spanish) etc.., I think one can get that with a bit of focus. What is the point of “speaking” 103 languages if you don’t really speak them, but just memorized some stuff in those languages? Probably good to show off, but not for real communication. And communicating is probably the main point in learning languages, I suppose. I think she is truly great, impressive. But would do much better with less for now. Just my humble opinion …

She is really great! I love it when she slips one word from another language in the language she is currently speaking, "muitos" for ""viele"", for instance. :) It's the story of my life. My partner and I interact in a language that is neither of our mother tongues, and this happens to us all the time. Usually, what replaces the "right" word in one of the languages is a faux ami' in the other. It requires a LOT of patience when we have to make split second decisions about important matters... As a native Russian speaker: She does NOT speak Russian. What she demonstrated isn’t enough at all to count Russian as a language she knows. I, for example, can say few sentences in German but it doesn’t mean I SPEAK German. I’ve also watched other videos with her and her accent is reallyyyy bad, I hardly understood the most part of what she was saying, although our everyday language is very quick and has a lot of sounds that are indistinguishable. I don’t judge or blame her in any way, it was just my remark. Good luck Cameron and Wouter and others who are learning foreign languages!

Some people here seem to be hypercritical. I speak German natively and while I agree some of her grammar was not perfect, it was no problem understanding what she said and her pronunciation was actually very good for the most part. I only speak German and English and understand a little bit of French. But even speaking two languages switching back and forth between them can be quite difficult and confusing at times. I cannot even imagine how it must be to switch between over 20 languages in a short time. Also, some mentioned that she did not perfectly pronounce country names and such, but I find this particularly difficult when switching languages because names are typically similar between languages, but rarely the same and sometimes even surprisingly different. In general, I think languages are there to communicate and I am confident she would be able to communicate well with many people all over the world. I can guarantee she would have no issue whatsoever communicating in German speaking countries.

Wouter speak indonesian very well. Even for word "karena" He prounonces it like native: "karna". Btw, some tips: Instead using "bahwa" (that) , in that contex of your sentence, you can also use "kalau" (if). The word "bahwa" is a little bit sound to formal, in everyday conversation, "kalau" Is more natural. These 2 words, in DAILY spoken language has the same (equivalent) meaning, your partner would understand what you meant (depending on the context of the conversation) But in written form, sometimes you can find both words interchangeable, but sometimes the meaning can be ambiguous between "that" or "if". But sometimes is not ambigous , if the context is well written. Also in speech, "Bahwa" and "Kalau" in that context, just like in the written form. But "bahwa" Is more formal in its sense. The audience would be hear the speech so formal if you use word "bahwa".

For example even if I learn another 2 languages in level A2-B1 I would still say I speak 3 languages but I can communicate in 5.
