It protects youth murders and gang members. Like WTF? Those ones in particular SHOULD be named and shamed and never have their records cleared. Punishments aren't meant to just be a deterrent. This is why sentencing got lighter, because the woke people started pointing out, correctly, that most criminals are repeat offenders. But prison sentences are also meant to be retributive justice for all of society. Even if the victim's family says "I don't want the person to be sentenced" it doesn't matter, they are serving time as a punishment laid out by the rest of society. Victim impact statements should only be to lengthen a criminal sentence, never to shorten it. Justice isn't just for the person who was victimized but to society as a whole for having to live in the general fear that crime creates.

It is so far outside the mind of a regular child, you cannot say this kid has a mind of an 8 year old. Kids can be violent and there's a great quote from St. Augustine that purports that children's physical weakness as opposed to a purity of heart but somewhat violent and career criminal are 2 very different things. This person will grow up physically but his mindset is set and it's not because he didn't develop but because he can't. Some people are just like this and we take it as they are just mentally stunted but it's not because of some developmental issue but more of a "soulless" issue, for lack of a better word and to use a term with a decent understanding. Take this 14 year old and put him in another setting and he's still growing up to have sadistic and violent thoughts. Give him rich parents and he grows up to be like Uday Hussein. People are not tabula rasas and society keeps thinking this idea. This person is never going to have a heart, or have an inner monologue in their head debating problems and solutions. If you are not interested in raising children into productive members of society, do not have them or agree to their guardianship. People will say, "oh but you can't keep surveillance over your children 24/7 ." This is absolutely correct, which is why you instil good morals, strong integrity, and so on as part of character building in your child - so that they know how best to behave when no one is watching. If your child is sneaking out of your home to steal cars and murder strangers, something in your parenting (or lack thereof) failed your child. Electronic devices such as smart phones, tablets, televisions, etc. are not parenting replacements.

FIRSTABLE: the killer is not a child, is a teenager and he knew what's he did . To get substances to get high, he knew the cost. In a few minutes took a ways 2 lives. ONLY: BECAUSE ,He is 14 years old IS going to walk like nothing happened.

14 so he won't be identified and he'll be out next week.

The person or person’s who led this child down this path of crime, should be handed the most severe penalties available by the courts. At that age, the lifelong consequences of committing the act’s of criminality and violence would not have been fully understood. But the older kids or adults surely knew. Choose your friend’s wisely, is a lesson as old as time. This kid unfortunately, will not get a second chance to redeem his behaviour for a long long time. Fourteen years isn’t a great deal of time to learn the wickedness in this world and the people who continue to recruit vulnerable minds. My condolences go out to the families and to the community affected. 🇨🇦✌🏼🇨🇦✌🏼🇨🇦🙏

Canada is dumb in many ways... cannabis affects the frontal lobe aka were critical thinking is fostered.... substances affects the mind so the more Canada promotes such things it's a reality these things will get worse
