Smugglers left the Patel family to cross the Canada-U.S. border on foot during a snowstorm in 2022. The family of four didn’t survive. Indian police say they know who planned the fatal border crossing. The Fifth Estate’s Steven D’Souza followed their trail from Gujarat, India, to a suburb in Canada.

If a family can gather 100,000 CAD to hire someone to illegally smuggle their family member from India to the US, why not stay in India? Very sad, those two kids were just gorgeous. Im Australian and we have a lot of people constantly trying to sneak into the country through smugglers, its a very sad situation, as it stands right now Australia is in a very bad cost of living crisis but even worse is the shortage of housing issues, unfortunately because of this housing issue even our own naturally born citizens are being forced to live in cars or on the streets the very last thing we need right now is more immigrants or illegal immigrants or even asylum seekers, i wish we could help everyone but we just dont have the infrastructure, enough housing, our health care system is under strain im guessing that's what some od the issue is in the US. Idk

With land border crossings being overrun with literally thousands of illegal immigrants daily, the US is at crisis - we cannot afford to support these people. We have this AHAR report (from HUD) revealed that 653,104 people nationwide were homeless, defined by the agency as lacking a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence. That number reflects an increase of 70,642 people over 2022 - a 12 percent jump in one year.

The smuggler appears to be fairly young yet has a big 3,000 sq foot home with expensive cars why doesn’t the government investigate where he got all that money ? I don't believe it takes 25 years. From my own experience, it only takes a couple years if you have family here, and if you don't have family, you can get a work visa and work seven years and then get a green card.

Lots of us cannot afford housing and go without healthcare and skip meals. And an education? Well that’s considered a luxury where I live unless you qualify for assistance or apply for loans that take decades to pay off. There are no shortcuts. Someone has to pay for that.
