Nobody called his father abusive, until after the kid was arrested. The abusive dad BS was part of the defense's spin to try and get the kid off with a light sentence, due to extenuating circumstances. Lies on men are automatically assumed to be true and there are no consequences for telling them. The father was no more at fault in this case, than the mother was. The kid and his defense team, knew exactly what they were doing. Kudos to the Judge who wasn't distracted by this ploy and applied the proper sentence.

Hatred for being abusive can lead to certain strike to a person in other ways they would do things that they have been mistreated, its always upto the victim. The point here is always listen to the victim. The victim of abuse is high at risk of being dangerous and part of it was they have rage and anger in their system. This case isn't as simple , the story after he hid her body below his bed is ; Maddie was reported missing by her parents and everyone in the neighbourhood came to together to try and find her. The kid , Josh pretended like he didn't know anything and joined the search party, the sad part is , Maddie was still alive when the search party was trying to find her. If Josh had confessed and taken her parents to her , she could've been saved. After a few days the search party and the police were starting to give up hope when they started to question Josh and asked him where he last saw her , he fumbled with this words and said that they were playing ball , the police got suspicious and checked his house , Josh was using a house freshner to keep the smell in , the police at first didn't find anything but then they found long strands of hair and blood on the floor , they looked under the bed and found her lifeless body. She likely died of excessive blood loss and infection in her injured eye, not to mention lack of air to breathe and water.

That is so messed up. Straight from a horror movie honestly. I'm not completely blaming the kid because he's a kid and had an abusive father, but he was 14 so he was old enough to make more rational decisions. I can't imagine how crooked their lives must be, the blood of other people is on their hands. One of the worst crimes you can commit. The guilt will also lay on him for the rest of his life. I wonder how much he thinks about Maddie's blood stained lifeless body, the fact he also hid that body under the bed knowing she was still alive before she passed away and could possibly be saved but still fearing the consequences from his dad. He'll also feel bad that that decision ruined the rest of his life. Or at least I hope he'll feel some remorse for it, especially when he grows older and matures and gets a better idea of the bigger picture, not being in a narrow, limited, fearful mindset from the oppression of his father. I feel bad for him in a way. I hope that if his heart truly changes he can be released one day when he realizes he made a really bad decision, but I'd feel bad if he spent the rest of his life rotting in prison for something he did at 14 with other factors influencing it.
@Casid2 Жыл бұрын
@@bigaraga Josh apprently wasn't aware if Maddie was still alive when he hit her with the baseball bat, he just put her under his bed while she was unconscious. The police visited Josh's house a few times prior to make sure she wasn't there but always got thrown off by the home freshner scent , Josh was planning to move her body but removing her from under the bed let out a lot of bad smell which is why his mom called the police and that's also how they found her body. Moreover , Life sentences only last for 25 yrs until there can be another court session. Josh was 14 then , the next court session would be when he's 39 , he will most likely be set free since he's spent more than half of his life behind bars. He'll be turning 39 this year , let's see what the court hearing shall be.

Some other notes about the case. - after hitting Clifton with the baseball bat, he would later stab her 7 times with a knife after hearing her moaning in pain. - clothes were missing on Clifton's body. Phillips claim the clothes had slipped off when he dragged her body. The clothes were later found but there wasn't dirt on the clothes. - Phillips had talked about sexual intercourse with Maddie Clifton and Maddie's older sister. But not enough evidence was found to prove rape (or necrophilia). - there was no blood found on baseball bat nor the baseball. There was no blood found in the backyard as well. (Blood can be washed off but it could be determined that blood may have been on the item)

@Luluxbracelets Жыл бұрын
Yes, but don't forget, this was from his perspective. There was no evidence that part of it was true. All we know is that he was the culprit. What he said may not be true because no blood was found on ghe baseball bat. You also missed the part where he claimed "her trousers fell down" but we don't think it was an accident. By the way, I found this information on another video, so please do not hate if it isn't true. Edit: Full story Josh and Maddie were friends but were not allowed to play with eachother as he had told Maddie an innapropriate joke and also fancied her sister. One day, Middle asked to play baseball together as their parents weren't home. They went to his front garden and played baseball together. Josh though was older than Maddie, and so his hits were harder. One time, he accidentally hit her in the eye while trying to pass the baseball to Maddie. Josh got scared because his father was very abusive and so he was scared his father would see what he had done and abuse him. Maddie was screaming and crying as her eyes was bleeding, so he brought her into his house and to stop the crying and screaming, he hit her hard with tge baseball bat, hoping to silence her. He dragged her inside his bedroom where he claims her trousers fell down as he was bringing her in. However, people's clothes don't just fall like that. It it probably happened that he was attracted fo her, and became innapropriate, because he began to sleep under the bed on top of her while her trousers were down. The search for Maddie began and he pretended to be scared and worried, even joining in with the search for her eith a look of worry on his face. No one was suspicious of him as he was only 14. Not even when the police came into his room and smelled a disgusting smell from the body of Maddie. Seeing as there were birds in the boys house, they thought it was just the foul smell of them. A week into the search, Joshs mother came into the room to see Maddies foot sticking out of the bed. She was terrified and directed the police in Joshs bedroom, too scared to go back herself. The police found Maddie, who wore nothing on the lower half of her body. Josh denied it at first, but then told the story heard in this passage. However, there were no marks from a baseball bat on her, and there was no blood on the ball or the baseball bat. Josh was sentenced to prison for life and I do not know what happened to his abusive father. What he supposedly did was very upsetting and what we think he may have done as there js no evidence of his story was very inappropriate. God bless the poor girl. She did not deserve to die as she was only being friendly playing with Josh, not knowing he would kill her. Her family were devastated, wishing her heart wasn't so big so that she could have lived. Rest in peace, Maddie.

I don’t want to hear anything about “he was young” or “it’s his dads fault” the only mistake was hitting her with the ball but at the age of 14 you are very competent and completely understand consequences, so you don’t drag someone in your house and torture them until they die to make them stop crying you just don’t. I completely understood what I was doing at the age of 6 and was a man at 14 so no excuses. If he knows how it feels to get abused he did the exact thing to that girl, he’s no better than his dad and arguably worse because he killed her, to kill somebody with a bat you actually have to try, it’s not like little tap would do the job nooo, he was swinging with all his strength not to simply convince her to stop crying but it was his full intention to homerun her head into oblivion to make her stop and he is a murderer. So basically, there's a lot of speculation about what happened: According to Phillips, on November 3, 1998, he was home alone when Maddie Clifton, who lived across the road from the Phillips, came to his house asking him to come outside and play baseball. Phillips agreed, even though he was not allowed to have friends over while his parents were not home. As the two were playing baseball, Phillips accidentally hit the ball into Clifton's eye, causing her to bleed, cry, and scream. Phillips panicked, knowing his father Steve would be home soon and fearing his reaction. Phillips dragged Clifton into his house, saying that the clothing came off Clifton's lower body as he did so. He hit her with the baseball bat to stop her from screaming before putting her under the base of his bed. When Steve returned home, Phillips interacted with him for a period of time before returning to his room. When Phillips discovered that Clifton was still alive and moaning under his bed, he removed the mattress, cut her throat, and stabbed her in the chest seven times with the knife from a Leatherman tool, killing her. Clifton's disappearance was reported around 5:00 pm that day. Police and volunteers searched for Clifton for six days; Phillips participated in the search. He later stated he spent the following week living in denial, saying, "I was putting myself in a fantasy world that nothing had happened. That was my defense mechanism for everything when I was a kid. I never made the decision ... to ignore it. I just did."it

Whats worse is that he probably would have never done something of such manner if he had grown up in a stable home.

As someone who has been mentally abused and gone through many terrible things myself, I would've never dreamed of doing that to someone even at 14 I wouldn't have. Even if "people react/handle things differently than me." There's honestly no excuse for what he did even if his father did abuse him.

He wasn’t even abused though it’s a lie he told the cops and told while on trial in order to make himself look more sympathetic.

The original video creator missed something, there was a lot of sources claiming that his father wasnt actually abusive and that there wasnt any injuries on the victim's body that could have come from a bat or from the ball that the kid apparently throew at the girl's eye. So yeah it was basically the kid being really fucked u0

I saw this whole story. I an pretty sure he also was questioned as one of her friends. He helped in the search for her. I didn't hear that much about fear of an abusive father. His mother did discover it by walking into his room, days later.
